The latest run keeps INDY right on the northern edge of a weak system that could produce both rain and snow. Here's 8am: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/00/fp0_204.shtml And here's 8pm: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/00/fp0_216.shtml There's a chance it could miss. Temperatures are still looking 40ish with a barometer in the 1020s. Eric
"Hello? Is this Debbie's Double-D Private Entertainers? Yeah...I had a reservation for 11 of your girls at the track in Indy....yep...I'm gonna need to cancel that order..."
I am planning on going over to the speedway on Saturday morning to get some pix in front of the main gate if anyone wants to go it is a 25 Minuet drive from the Super 8 to the speedway and then back to the drag strip so I will probably be leaving the hotel around 8AM so i can be back in plenty of time with the group when the gates open at 9AM. Here is a pic from 2 years ago that I like but as you can see it was 2AM and driving rain. I am hoping to get this same pic only better in the daylight.
What you should really do is take a picture in front of John Force's headquarters! (I'm available for "stars of the racing world" tours) LOL
Not much is still located in that area at all. All of the drag racers are now out near the dragstrip. John Force's shop is probably within three minutes of the drag strip. So is Don Prudhomme, Tony Pedregon, Vance & Hines, Melanie Troxel, some Torco teams, and a ton of others. They're all bunched up in a new industrial park with economic incentives for racing teams.
Oh ok it has been years since i have been in that old race shop areah and im only 19 years old now so i was young but i have been to the Indy 500 for the last 12 years straight so i know the track very well
Just read your thread on the trophy's....can I get a picture with one before you give them to those who earn them ? That's as close as I'll get
Here's the latest long-tange weather. The models are keeping that system out west and intensifying it. At 8am Saturday: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/00/fp0_156.shtml 1020 barometer, a cool dry start. At 2pm: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/00/fp0_162.shtml The barometer is almost up to 1024, still dry, a temp maybe in the 40s? At 8pm: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/namer/gfs/00/fp0_168.shtml Barometer around 1022, still dry with a high of 50 or so on the day. A guess at the DA with a 800 elevation, temp 47 dew pt 35 and 1021 barometer: http://www.pilotfriend.com/calcs/calculators/density.htm -this says 19. Eric
JMATT/Aaron....did you get to the break even point? I know it will be crazy this weekend...so just wanted to say thank you for doing this. See you in sunny Indiana Saturday.
