Ryan PM'd me this link. Its above my head to truly understand... grease monkey's, vendors, please explain for us laymen?!?! http://www.300cforums.com/forums/su...uspension-but-were-afraid-ask.html#post660912 Basically, its stating that upgrading coilovers and sways actually make our vehicles handle WORSE at high speeds and HARD course work when pushed to THE limit. These dudes seem to know their shit... but I'm car dumb. Opinions based on fact?!?!
Better bushings, less give/slop, tighter better suspension. Pedders. Good stuff. VERY upscale... Nope. They didn't say that. What they said was that adding "stronger" components puts more stress/wear on the remaining weaker components. They did not say it would HANDLE worse. They are saying that the stock suspension is not up to handling track use with our horsepower, weight, geometry of the car. Take a strut brace for example. Without a strut brace the front/engine bay of the car torques/twists/gives some while handling. Add a strut brace and you make this part of the body/car more rigid. The forces that previously torqued/twisted this portion of the car (which absorbed some of that energy) is now more absorbed/transferred to the remaining components that will then wear that much faster. better? Here is an opinion based on fact. I haven't heard an estimated price for the full LX treatment but on your budget you won't even be able to pretend to dream about it. You should keep saving for your supercharger instead.
There's someone selling their Mopar/KWV1 Suspension on LXF for 900. I'm sure he'd go lower lol...he intends on going the Pedder's route.
Oh, and another thing...it's all part of the game baby. Superchargers, heads/cam/intake, N20, suspension, almost anything you modify performance-wise may have some effect on long-term reliability. Remember, I think Chrysler's bench mark was 100000 miles when they designed the car in the first place. So, upgrading or modifying your drivetrain and/or suspension is part of the "Wanna play..gotta pay" mantra.
Absolutly and the more you get the more you gotta give. I am looking at increasing my blower output to 12lbs from my current settup. Well when I do that and the ZCMR tune that means I will have to run larger injectors, again. Bigger injectors and this much power meand bigger rails, BMC here I come. Bigger rails need more line to move the fuel through, so bigger braided steel lines are OTW. Bigger lines need a bigger pump so we are looking at a double pump settup. You get the ides...
I can tell you this much: Pete from Pedders is a great guy, and has some great products. I won't claim to know which of the Pedders bushings help a lot, and which don't do anything, but in my work developing the rear coilovers, there's definitely some crap bushings on our cars to start with. I've got 40,000 miles on my SRT-8 now, and although I probably won't be doing a whole Pedders kit, there's a couple of bushings I think I may get from Pedders. Pete is certainly not saying upgrading your suspension hurts. He's saying upgrading one component helps accentuate the weakness in other components.
Thanks everyone for your input, corrections and translation. I won't be going that route, as per Dave's (Quick) explanation!
You two are deranged. Tyres? WTF is that? hahahahahaha. And Momo, you lived in Buffalo right? The only Canadians you really got to see were the work at ferris wheel carnie types during the day and drink listerine and sleep in an ATM kind at night..Niagara Falls. lmao jk. Eh Scotty! Listen my dear transticular friend I have 275 Toyo Proxes on all 4...what would you recommend? lol. I have never once in my entire life heard a Canadian say "aboot" for about. I have only heard this on TV but I suspect they come from Newfoundland where mutations in the gene pool are not entirely uncommon lol...kind of like your state of Arkansas is it? *wink*
Boy Jason, look who's panties got all in a bunch, lol!! Ok you super sensitive Canadian fruit loop, listen up! I wasn't trying to diss you ... for once ... I was actually making a crack about those Vredstein (or whateverthefrick they're called!) tires!! They call them tyres. I think Jason got it, but then again he coulda just been taking a swipe at you (most likely). I truthfully wasn't. Seems I may have made you a bit sensitive these days. About your tires, sorry, I didn't know you have Toyos, nice! Those will very much enhance the KW kit!! You're gonna really like it bro!! k:
And what the frick does "transticular" mean anyway?!??!?! Sounds like an EQ term for what they call their modified testicals!!
