We have yet to have a good plug-in-play type of tuning software. I'm sorry, but the SCT can't even compete with the originality and ease of the EMS, but the EMS is too expensive for a lot of people, especially those simply running a regular big turbo + fueling mods.

I honestly think piggybacks suck, and used the SAFCII in the past and that thing just drove me nuts.

Granted, AGP is coming out with their mail-order tunes and DiabloSport is *apparently* working on a Predator tuner for the SRT-4's (though I haven't heard anything about it in a while), I'm kinda baffled as to why the NSRT has such little ECU tweaking utilities. Shit, even the Grand Prix community has a plethora of various vendor ECUs available, and we get S1-S3 and the SCT.

Don't even get me going on the Megasquirt...

Hey how do you feel about megasquirt? *ducks and hides*

It is disappointing to see the availability of tuning software for the regular schmo.

Diablosport is on the site, I am sure they will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have on their tuner.

The staged kits work fine. You're just gonna have to deal with a SAFC or DTEC or whatever.

Or, go untuned, like me and have uber-rich AFR's at WOT, but still pull like no other....

I hardly consider the staged kits "fine," unless you're running other staged parts. Granted, good power can be had from a S1 or S2 with an SAFC/DTEC; I just found myself constantly having to adjust the tune in the past, and never got the same power out of a piggyback as I did a standalone.

The SCT has potential but is clearly not anything I'd say is an amazing flash utility. DiabloSports has paved the way for handheld flashing and, in my opinion, when HPTuners is released (something I'm actually very familiar with), it will blow all other options out of the water. According to their site, it's also in the works for the SRT-4. My problem, however, is the fact that the big dogs start to develop these for the SRT-4 years after its released.

You can't beat a good dyno tune, I will attest to that; however, it's just silly that piggybacks is what the majority has to tune with if they're just looking for a good amount of power out of their relatively GT30R or smaller turbo kit.

I guess "tricking" the ECU to see less boost thus giving you more fuel doesn't sit well with me. I like full injector control! :thumb3:

it's really all about what you want from a tune. if you're doing just a basic mod path then there's no reason that a piggy back and staged ecu shouldn't work just fine. if you're looking for complete tunability and to get every last hp out of the car suck it up and get a aem ems. it's not as expensive anymore.

if you're serious about the car then you can't be cheap, it just doesn't work that way. you have to pay to play, and in this case tune.

eventually there will be options like the hptuner and others that will allow people to have easier control over the tune and options in the car, but if you want full control and all the bells and whistles you'll still have to get the aem unit (or another full standalone). it simply does things that a reflash cannot. there's a reason that full standalones still exist in markets where reflash software is easily and readily availible.

but again, it's all about what a person's goals and needs are for the car. for a car that's only been around for 4-5 years we actually have some really good options out there. you can't really compare us to hondas, gn's or mustangs as they've been around a lot longer and companies have had time to develop and refine their products. 5 years is a baby in the aftermarket/tuning world, and considering that we're doing pretty good actually.
