In all honesty - at the Indy event I may run a 10.99 second quarter mile....... .....and be in 4th or 5th place. There's some stuff attending that no one is aware of yet. And they have the potential to make me look slow by comparison.
Well the tuning is slow going but the car feels stronger every time.Unfortunately it looks like my cage is on hold till next month until the fabricator is out of the cast:furious:This sucks.......I can't believe I have to go to a track rental day and LIFT!
I met with chassis builder yesteday. I'm giving up on the rollbar idea, so I'll only be legal to 11.500. That just means I'll test and tune 1/8th of a mile at a time, then get a couple blasts in before they shut me down.
muffler pipe DOh sux about the guy in a cast no one else is close ? Wonder if I can talk autopower into builing a bolt in cage for our cars
Well,a little update........After the track rental it was evident I made a wrong choice in camshafts(I will explain in a bit),the tune was off and the shifting on the trans was a disaster, similar to JMatts experience.I knew I was in trouble when in air that was better than -1000' DA I ran a n/a 12.90 on a 1.80 60' :WTF: The day progressively got worse to the point I had the car back on the trailer by 11am at a track rental. The second day saw some improvement as adding 6* of timing on the bottom got me down to a 12.6 N/A.....still nothing to write home about and waaaaaay off from last year.At that point it was time to investigate. For starters the shifts were terrible with the 2-3 shift hanging for what seemed like a couple of tenth's.......so bad I was afraid to spray the car. next the cam selection I made.....on paper it was a perfect choice for spray but the motor just didn't like it and the power curve was so far off I wasn't going to try and tune around it....so thats changed. In the process of changing the cam I also realized the motor is still extremely tight.....only have 650 miles on it.......need a lot of break in still to loosen it up......probably giving up 20-30 hp right there. Now the fix for the tune was somewhat lucky.I have always liked the stage 3 B&G PCM I have but the shift points were too low.....so on a leap of faith I tried the Diablo on it.........and it worked! It read the B&G as the base tune! Now I have raised shift points and rev limit on my B&G stage 3 with the B&G's killer shifts.A/F's are a solid 12.4 across the board and the timing is maxed out!SOTP tells me I need to get back to the track ASAP cause this is a different animal!
great news Erik. Glad it is coming BACK together for you. I could hear the disappointment in your voice when we talked last.
Latest Update Swapped cams again.I ran the car at Lebenon Valley two weeks ago and was not happy with it so the Tomahawk went back in.......for now....lol......Ran it at E-Town this weekend and it was still a bit slower than before.I was getting a bit aggravated with it when it dawned on me.......I got exactly what I asked for....A Nitrous Motor! With that realization out of the way I accepted the fact that the motor would always be a little slower N/A and started screwing around with the jetting......to which I can just keep bumping the spray till it runs what I want.:shifty:Now I need to get to the track up here a few times to dial in the jetting for different time index's and start keeping a log. This weekend a slightly modified 100 shot would put the car comfortably in the mid 11's.........I threw a 175 shot in it on Friday night and ran an 11.67 @ 109 shutting the spray off at the 1/8th and braking before the trap since I still have no cage. The bottom end pull is back as well.Killer burnouts were back as was the 60' times I was accustomed to.Again on Friday night hit a 1.62 60' and I forgot to remove the sways as I planned.I feel with a few more tweaks and adjustments the car will be dialed in perfect for the 11.5 index races at E-Town and if I ever get the cage a contender for some 10'sec passes.
All right you chickensheeyat!!!! Go to a DIFFERENT track, that's not your regular track. Drop a 250 shot in there, and blast a record!!! Then you can go to e-town and drive slow all you want.
Thats the plan.........I am going to go up to Canada but I need a day when they are actually prepping the track...........Friday night test and tunes you might as well race on Marbles.
I hear you. I quit going to our "Tuesday night street legals" for the same reason. Fortunatley we have a "slick tire test and tune" every Thursday night to prepare for that weekend's bracket race. No tires with tread allowed. My Hoosiers, with only the two grooves, count as slick tires.
Unfortunately they don't do that up here.........there is either no track prep or they overglue the track........I have seeen them spray VHT from a tractor all the way to the 1/8th mile.Really screws up your et's.
Sweet looking engine, I could not imagine what a 300 shot would feel like, probably peel your face off or something!
Same thing for me...last night it was literally slippery. They were thinking they would even open because of the wind but the track prep was non-existent. Maybe the last time I ever go there despite it being soo quiet. A 13 flat with a 2.16 60' was the best I could pull off. I was frustrated to say the least lol...
Nothing wrong with a Nitrous motor. Better daily driver, will take tons of juice. Best of both worlds Erik. I'm still waiting for the I-Charger.
Well,3 cam swaps later I am back to the HHP stage 4 cam.I also have been working with someone to tune it.......and I gotta say right now it's very strong......the motor is broken in and not an issue anymore as far as being tight. The new tune does not have any shifting issues and so far everything is on track for the Supercharger next month.
