Kris I hate that you are going to the mid-east...but on the other hand I am glad to have someone like you there doing what you do best.

I appreciate your sentiments. I hate it too. But I am excited to go do what I do and see the outcome. Every Soldier, Sailor, Marine and Airmen that goes there never gets to see the final outcome just the difference they make person to person, however, I get to see the big picture through my briefings. I know that we all make a difference "Over There".

Its been several years since I have deployed....

You were a Soldier once...you know how I feel. Apprehensive and excited at the same time....the difference is age and experience. I will do you and all of my fellow citizens proud....trust me.:good:

 

One more thing and this deserved a seperate post...Thank You Roy. I feel sad that I am leaving you..and my various friends. Hopefully, I will still be able to post and then there will be no difference other than me gasping to the dry and dusty air....:shok:

 

I know what you mean. Twice, I turned around in 30 days to go back...wife could not understand and left with the kids.

Only some of us know...it is exciting, it is the environment in which your sense of who is best and who can come out on top is very obvious.

You have worked hard to be very good at what you do...now you can do it for real, in service to your country.

My most painful wound was during a mortar attack...ran out of a bunker barefooted and stubbed my big toe on a pallet.

Laid there wishing that a mortar round would bury in my chest to kill the pain!

 

Its amazing what you wish for in these moments of anguish....:stretcher::wacko:
