Well, I did 1/2 the driveway again. 2nd time in 24 hours. Ugh. Rachel said she wanted to help. Since we only have one snow shovel, I put her on "Save The Junipers Duty". Though I armed her with a large push-broom, she used her 'shake the hell out of the trunk' method. Results: I hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did. :grin: Wow did we get a lot of snow: As of 8PM, no plows had been by. I'm going to ask a few questions before sending in the next HO fee check. :book: :nuke:

Now for the serious stuff, I am sooooo glad someone finally identified deforestation as a major cause in the increase in CO2. We used to call the rain forrests of the world, the "Lungs of the planet". Well no one is going to go after a bunch of third world countries clearing exotic hardwoods and such, nothing there really to gain, but, wait a minute, YES ....That's it, RICH, (and ignorant) America. If we can somehow link this mess to them,...... BOY will they pay. Well, I say any developer who cleared land to maximize building density should be made to pay. They cleaned up and made a ton of money. And the vast unwashed had little to say as they raped the planet. Where I live, the engineers for the municipalities recognized that the housing footprint of all this concrete and asphalt, was creating water runoff and not enough was finding it's way back into the underground aquifers.(we, on the Island drink out of wells drillled into these aquifers). So they came up with the "Recharge Basin" to compensate for this unwanted runoff. Basically a large whole in the ground meant to fill with the water not reaching the aquifer because some greedy SOB decided he/she would make WAAAY more money building WAAAY more homes on any available land. These recharge basins became a part of all new developements. Well,..... What about the F"ING trees you cleared and their contribution to cleaning the CO2 and converting it to O2? Did anybody think to compensate for this enviormental alteration? Now, we are supposed to feel bad, and, by the way, open our wallets. Tell Al Gore to pound salt. I will end with one of my favorite sayings, "Half a brain is WAAAY more dangerous than none at all". PS,Tell Al to champion the cause against cow farts. Methane is another greenhouse gas.

i love the ignorance that people have about global warming. global warming is happening, the earth is getting warmer there's really not a whole lot of debate about that. the issue and question is how much of it is our fault, and/or if we're making it worse. the ironic part is that eventually (not any time soon, in like 10,000 years or something) global warming will lead to an ice age. but people don't grasp that concept and what global warming really is, they hear the term and say "oh that means it's getting warmer! well what about this snow?" i do agree that the tree huggers and politicians use the issue as a way to get their names in the paper and to get funding for stupid crap, but at the same time i don't think that a little conservation by people is really a bad thing. we have basically destroyed the planet already in so many different ways, we could at least slow it down a little.
From my post 2 pages back: Ummm.....I wasn't really making any pseudo-political or pro/anti-environmental statement here. It was just a quick joke at the expense of Gore. And that I'm not looking forward to the BIG storm (10"+) that's coming tomorrow. That's all. Thank you.
