All I see is a red X. I did see it on AOL today. The wheels you can get at any tire wheels shop. So for $600,000 WTF?
It's only missing one thing: PRODUCTION. BTW- the fastest PRODUCTION car is ***NOT*** the Veyron. Google "Corvette Sledgehammer". Faster, and about $800,000 cheaper. You know you're hauling ass when your digital speedometer starts counting down!
A couple other bones of contention... 1. It is NOT the "World's Fastest Car" (as the article states, in it's title and elsewhere). The Thrust SSC is: Enjoy. (and you guys thought YOU were fast...heh heh) 2. When you name something, try not to copy someone else. Whether trying to confuse the car-buying customer on purpose or not, all you're doing is making yourself and your company look silly and inept. As the Geico cavemen taught us, "Maybe next time, do a little research." The whole thing is pretty much a pantload of FAIL: - The article. - The claims by the company. - The name. The car and it's engineering are cool. Everything else is weaker than Lindsey Lohan in front of a martini.
First off, the Veyron sends power to all four wheels while the Ultimate Aero utilizes a rear-drive setup with no traction control. Yes, you read that correctly -- no traction control. In the engine department, Bugatti favored the use of 16 cylinders while SSC made do with eight. The Ultimate Aero's weight, thanks in part to the smaller engine and lack of all-wheel-drive system, comes in at a much lower curb weight than the Bugatti. Most shocking, the $1.6 million Veyron costs more than 2.5 times as much as the SSC. Like that part. !!
Sheesh, tough crowd around here. All I did is post an article I found. and Kevan, IMO cutting the wings off a jet and adding 4 wheels doesn't quite make the Montage a car.
Sorry. I get a little testy when it comes to outlandish claims and when people fail to do even a single second of basic research. But does adding wings make something a plane? If you watch the video, you'll see that the 'car' was designed in the Streamliner style, specifically for setting a land speed record. It's not really designed for picking the kid(s) up at day care (but how frickin' cool would that be? LOL). Other well-known streamliner LSR vehicles include: - Bluebird (wheel driven!) - Spirit Of America - Goldenrod (FOUR Hemis! Wheel driven!) - Blue Flame - Turbinator (wheel driven!) - Thrust 2 - JCB Dieselmax (yep- a smoker!) I understand where you're coming from though. While the Thrust SSC was designed from the ground up, the team that's trying to break that record basically did just take the wings off: www.landspeed.com It's an F-104 Starfighter, sans wings, plus solid metal wheels. BTW- "Montage" is a type of editing style (and the title of a song describing that editing style in the movie, 'Team America'. LOL). The car's name is just "Thrust SSC".
