Orange, GPS, Sunroof - $27,035 + 5k dealer markup + $32,035 The manager told me he would just charge MSRP. Great car! Good acceleration, good handling, great brakes, susprisingly comfortable ride quality....all typical for an SRT. After driving a buddys Evo IX I would have to say "I" enjoyed driving the SRT4 much more than the Evo (and those who know me know that is a bold statement). Oh, and the seats are really nice as well!!!
Hehe.....no! THAT was a rental. Rentals are meant to be spanked...wicked hard (in true north eastern accent).
When they did hot laps at the TE one of the groups had a Caliber at the end (they were running 4 cars to a group). When they took off from the pits he'd always pull out a bit and they'd race to the track entrance. The Caliber would always hang right off the back corner of the SRT-8s for a little bit. We used those in the autocross module (6spd manual -- I assume all the SRT Calibers are manual?) and thrashed them around in 1st (I won). Lots of get up. Seemed a bit high center of gravity so it would lean a bit for my liking. I think sway bars would take car of that like it does on the LXs. Where I had problems was in that shootout module. Start side by side at a tree and do mirror courses. The courses were a short straight, 90*, pretty much 90* back, and then a large, increasing radius turn. Things would go well through both the first corners and then when I'd floor it a little ways thought the sweeper it would just... nothing... felt like someone had removed the turbo AND it was bogging. Got to be something with working the turbo. No one else seemed to have the problem except one other guy (he won the shootout) who said he experienced just that but only on his last run. weird. Oh, yea, the vipers didn't have that problem:rofl:
Rick, when did you do this?!?! SIDENOTE: How badass of a car would that be for the Eastlake Rally Course?!?!
Rick..did you notice a lot of torque steer?...my dealer got one in a couple weeks ago and the service mgr told me he wouldnt have it...he got on it in 1st and said it took off to the left and almost in the ditch....maybe something wrong with theirs if you say the one you drove handled well....that says a lot coming from you...
Same thing with me. I went to McCune when they first got it in and I had torque steer like a mofo. I have never had to shift then grab back onto the steering wheel so fast before. I was scared I was gonna crash into something.
Bah, I've had a couple pretty quick fwd and they had terrible torque steer and were modified. I've never thought I would go into a ditch lol..You get used to it.
I've been looking for a nice small car but no matter how hard I try, I just can't get myself to "like" the looks of the Caliber SRT. Now don't flame me too bad but I do like this. I didn't care for the HHR when it first came out but this new SS model is growing on me. A couple of mods and this could be sweet!
I like that model as well BUT they are coming out soon in a Panel version in the SS format as well. Chuck
Dahaha. If you needed 2 hands on the wheel...yup. Jk, never driven a Caliber so IDK how bad it really is.
Already done that buddy. It is an ABSOLUTE BLAST to drive !!!!! I am seriously thinking of ordering one. Oh, and yeah it was the orange one off of Main Street.
So I guess the Viper's still there... Lol! Buy the Viper and they'll throw the little one in for free!
Boy are you ever lucky you ended with "J/K." I was already on the phone rounding up the EQ to go handle and have some Canadian a$$.
