Hey guys I need a little help with my 03' srt4. My car's been acting up a little and I thought it might be because it wasn't getting enough fuel, so I purchased a Walbro 255. I replaced it just as you would a stock one and now I can't get my car to crank over and start. It's as if the fuel just isn't getting enough pressure to reach the engine. When I disconnect the fuel line from the pump itself underneath the car and try starting it, fuel squirts out, but my car still won't start. I have the stock 05' injectors installed, I thought this could be the problem, but I would think I would still be able to start my car. Well, if you guys have any suggestions at all just let me know please, I hate having to watch my car sit in the garage, thanks a lot.
Did you follow the how-to? Theres one on srtforums I believe. You probably didn't install it right, since well...your car won't start/
Since you have an 03, I would assume you have a schrader valve at the end of the fuel rail. Push in the valve and have someone turn your car on. DON"T START IT, JUST TURN IT TO ON!!! Make sure you have some rags at the ready. When your friend turn your car on, fuel should come squirting out the rail. If not, you have a blockage somewhere. This is not the only thing that could be wrong, but it will eliminate the fuel pump as your problem. However, since it stopped working after the pump change, I would assume something happened with that. Also, when you get your car running, I would suggest a Seafoam treatment. Works wonders.
hhmmm I just took the walbro off today because I needed to get to work and put the stock one back on and it runs again. I was told Walbro was one of the best brands of pumps out there. Maybe i was mislead, or a bad apple just fell off the tree, I'm not sure
when you had the 255 in, did you hear it prime when you turned the key on? that's the easiest way to tell if it's working. it's pretty loud. also, when you first replace the pump make sure you prime the system a few times to get pressure in there. there's a blue ring that goes inside the pump module that always seems to get loose as well. if that fell off you would have serious difficulty starting and/or keeping the car running. double check that and make sure that it stayed on. good luck!
thanks for the help guys, and yeah when i turn the key i do hear the pump humming so it should be working and I did prime it to get some pressure built up so it's a mystery to me why the stock one starting working again when the 255 didn't. I took it in to get it checked. I'll post up later to let you guys know what the problem was. Thanks again guys I really appreciate it
ok this might sound stupid, but did you wire it correctly? I have never seen it but have heard of some installing them wrong and it will spin the pump in the wrong direction.
ok, well I took it in and I have no idea what they did different, but apparently I had just put it in wrong I guess. They said if you don't install those pumps perfect they'll give you problems. It runs like a champ though and even sounds like a monster now. Thanks for all the input guys I really appreciate it. I love The C !
