This weekend I finally decided to color match my wheels. I went to the paint shop and had some 2-stage inferno red mixed up and bought a ton of tape and masking supplies. I have a big air compressor at the house with a nice spray gun so I had confidence that I could do it myself after my CAI and strut bar turned out very well a few months ago. Woke up early saturday and got the beast on jackstands, pulled the wheels off and took them to the nearest goodyear store since nobody else wanted to mess with the EMTs or had the right tire machine for them. Just my luck, they were slammed so two hours later finally got a call saying they were done. I went back and picked them up and then spent the whole rest of saturday sanding and prepping the wheel, fixing a little curb rash, and taping the wheels up. Sunday morning, woke up and got all the suuplies ready and the paint mixed up. Set them up on the side of the house and started spraying them. After a few coats I let it dry real good then came back after lunch and sprayed a few layers of clear on them to give a deep shine. Let them dry most of the day and took them back to goodyear to get the tires put back on. I was so worried about the tire machine rubbing the paint off the lips but the guy said he would be super careful and lay rags over the wheel. Luckily after going super slow he got them all on without a scratch which made me very happy. Got them all rebalanced and took them home and mounted them up. I love the way it turned out and people check it out twice as much as before
That looks really REALLY nice! Now I'm inspired... I think I'm going to take my strut bar off and try spraying it gloss black. any suggestions on paint type (aerosol can)?
One of the charger guys has his black like his car like you have yours...he likes to take credit for inventing the idea hahahaha :deshade: but we both know red is better!!!!
