The First Annual Driving Out Cancer Motor Rally and Car show will be held in Tampa, FL on April 26, 2008. The entry fee is $45. All proceeds go to fund support groups and education for older adults with cancer as well as their caregivers. Other donations and support are welcomed. Check in and on-site registration will open at 9:00 a.m. at The Hut in downtown Tampa. The motor rally will depart from The Hut parking lot at 10:30 a.m. and travel to Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores. The car show will open to the public at 12 noon. Please visit www.drivingoutcancer.org for more info and registration. Anyone owning an antique, muscle, custom, exotic car or truck, high end luxury vehicle, motorcycle or chopper. Car owners will be given time to clean up their cars for presentation in the show. Once the show opens, cars will be judged by the public in several categories including (but not limited to): Best Interior, Best Paint, Best Engine Bay, Best in Show and more! Awards will be presented to the winners before the show closes. The funds raised through Driving Out Cancer events go directly to supportive programs for seniors with cancer and their caregivers. These programs allow seniors and their loved ones to receive help through local support groups, telephone workshops and educational seminars that may be otherwise unavailable in their community. I will be making this event myself and will be collecting donations to present at the rally. I had an uncle and a grandmother that died of cancer, and now I'm going through the same feelings once again with a good friend who has just started kemo.
