Looking for a switch....

This one is a toughie, so grab a drink and get comfy:

I'm trying to find a specific type of toggle switch. It's got an LED tip (preferably red) and it's momentary. Now, here's the tricky part: the LED remains ON after the switch turns on whatever it's powering up.
It would be nice if the toggle itself would come to rest in the 'center' position, but that's not a requirement.

Specs-
- SPST or SPDT
- 5A min. 20A max.
- Toggle only (no rockers)
- Standard 1/2 dia. mounting hole size toggle

I have a latching relay here that's supposed to turn my regular ON-OFF toggle into a momentary switch, but I'm still trying to figure out how to wire that up.

I've been through hundreds of electronics sites online, Grangier, MSC, McMaster, Mouser, etc. No one has anything like it.
I've asked aviation guys about it; they all think I'm a freak. LOL Oh, and they've never heard of that type of switch. I figured it'd be fairly common, esp. for powering up something remotely...and then having a visual indicator that it's 'ON'. I guess they don't really do that in airplanes.

Any help in locating the switch is appreciated.

I have one similar to the above in Black with a Blue LED light. I have seen them with the Red LED when buying the blue LED switch.

Also, it's got to be momentary. A regular ON-OFF switch won't work for this.

I've seen those at AutoZone before, I think... PepBoys maybe? :hmm:

I've never attempted to tear one apart, but I would think you could make it a momentary switch... ???

A switch that has an indicator light that stays lit while in the power on position is a pilot switch go to www.wwgrainger.com and you should finf what you are looking for. You can also try graybar electric.

little more clarification please. Somehow I got the impression that you wanted a toggle that returns to center? The switch does not stay in the toggled position. So you'd pull the toggle up, whatever would start, you'd let go and the switch would return to neutral but the indicator would be lit. Something like that or is it OK for the toggle to remain in the up or down position.





no, don't get your hopes up, I don't have a clue about switches.

 

Did you pull your existing and look for ANY info on the body?
DigiKey may have what you want..
Will you take the comlpete rocker as a light (more choices here)?

Nothing at Digikey, Grainger, or Graybar.
The Pilot type switches are all home-type (wall mount) toggles, or they are ON/OFF.

That is the optimal switch.

This would work too.

And just to clarify: the "whatever" is a power inverter. The toggle is replacing the stock remote (membrane, the size of a wall jack) switch.

Close, Nathan....but it's not Momentary. It's just ON/OFF.
