So my lug nuts keep getting stuck inside the 21mm socket. At first, hammering on it until they started slowly coming out was working. This last little bugger is stucker then a mug. Before I turn my car into another Jet Chip video, how the FUCK do I get this PIECE of SHIT lug nut out?!?!? I'm seriously ready to destroy something here.
Did you try just dropping the socket/lug nut on the floor from about 5 feet? (Try to drop it FLAT on its side, not on an end) It's seems to work pretty good. Also, try spraying some PB Blaster of WD40 inside the socket, to help loosin things up a bit. Or you could stick a long screwdriver in the back of the socket, and hammer it out that way (this might dystroy the lug nut tho.)
Put the lug nut back on the stud a few turns and try to (lightly) hammer the socket off . . . THEN remove the nut the rest of the way from the stud . . . That usually works for me.
I had this happen to me alot...It takes alot of effort at times lol..very frustrating..it made me go out and buy a set of real (solid) lug nuts...It's that tin cap they put over the lugs that causes all the problems. Since i put real lugs on, i haven't gotten one lug stuck. just an idea
ive tried hammering it out, all it did was put a dent in the lug nut. this shit is STUCK. ive tried lightly hammering off and ive tried pounding the living shit out of. still stucky. thats definately my next mod bro. most people are using gorilla lug nuts right? hahaha thanks bro. i got so pissed i threw the socket/lug nut as hard as i could at a wall 20ft away. didnt think it would help, but it felt good. the worst part is i sat there yesterday for 10hrs detailing the car for sunday and THIS is going to be why i cant make it. so for now the dirty whorish little car will sit on stands until tomorrow when i just pound that thing into oblivion. 2 of the nuts came off easy, the other 3.......forget about it. i just cant wait to get started on the second wheel tomorrow!
Put it back on all the way, this will torque it the other way. At that point you whould be able to pull it off. At this point and for future reference get a good socket that fits better, and also dont put the socket all the way onto the nut. That way it will not have the opportunity to seize itself in there. If that doesnt work take a torch to the socket heat it up and then the nut should easily come out
yeah but this isnt modding this is simply changing brake pads. but your right bro "patience young grasshopper". its just frustrating that one lug nut literally f'd up my entire plans for this whole weekend. thanks man i was gonna try the torch method as a last resort. i dont see how i can get a better fitting socket though, arent they 21mm nuts? i know their pieces of shit should i go with an actual different size socket?
Do you have a vice? Put the lug in a vice and tap off the socket. One of the suggestions on here should work. Are you sure its a metric size?
markus....... here is the part # to solve your problems.... summit racing part # gor-71147 see this thread for when i did them to see what they look like!!! http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2166
Not at all sure what size they are, as I am from the Jeep world. Basically what I was saying is if you take a snap-on socket and compare it to a socket from walmart they are going to fit totally different...My suggestion, if you dont have it already get a good quality socket...hope you get it figured out
Get yourself a GOOD 6 point socket. A Snap On socket would be top choice. Make sure to torque the wheels when your done.
