there seems to be no place to weld a new bung upstream from cats as LC-1 recommends. Can I use an existing air sensor bung and turn it off with the preditor?, How? Even if I can reuse an air sensor, both front and rears are not located as Inovate recommends.
Well I welded mine right next to the cats between the 2 sensors. I have not tried the system with turning off the o2 sensors but if the pred can do it then that would probable be the best way.
Yikes! you can't turn off the front 02 sensors. PCM uses them to constantly adjust the fuel in (most) non-WOT modes of operation. Now I believe that Innovate has a narrowband output for that purpose. You replace the narrowband sensor with the bosch wideband sensor. Then one of the outputs from the controller can be used for the 0-1v narrowband output into the PCM (you got to tap into the harness). A number of other wideband gauges have this capability as well. A lot of people are hesitant to do this because if the controller, or less likely the sensor, fails then who knows what happens. I think limp mode is a distinct possibility. A few Innovates have failed. Whether that was because of the product or incorrect installation I don't know. In any event narrowband sensors are much more robust than wideband sensors. So. Yes you can use the existing bung.
There is a spot. Mine is just behind the upstream O2. You have to go to the side. When I get home, I can take a snap shot of where mine is located.
Hot dam! If you can see it, pics and or desc. of where you routed the the wiring would be great. This is the next thing on my list. Have Predator but I don't think I can wait so I'm going to run a canned tune without a rubber (no wideband protection). Should be ok. Canned tune, r20 is supposed to be a little bit richer, will be monitoring the knock retard. Howdee, it needs to be in front of the cats for accurate readings and, if at all possible, should be in the top half of the pipe. The idea is that you don't want any condensation collecting on the sensor.
I've always put mine in the hedder collector, just make sure its not on the bottom as moisture will collect there and ruin the sensor, usually install them at a slant downward on the side of the collector
I put mine where the rear O2 sensor is on the driver side. On my SLP down pipes the rear O2 bung was already at the right angle so I decided to use it. But i dont have cats, so it wasnt an issue.
I was in Peavy Mass. (Jay Leno's home town) a few years back and noticed a liquor store in a stip mall with a big name sign " Bung hole Liquors" I thought, my kinda place! Took a pic and sent it to Leno, but never saw it on the show
