took out which chip? they made it so you dont need the key with the fob to start the car, you could just use like a copied key?

No. The chip is always in there. push the button and you're gone. The remote start puts the chip in a safe box and then you have to have the remote start fob to start it. independent system. Biometric would be neat. I'd want a key override in case something happened to my thumb. Every time Curtis changed his plugs he'd have to wait a week to drive the car.

With the factory ignition you need a chip to start the car. The add-on remote starts like with a Clifford alarm system still need a chip. They take a chip from your spare key or you get a third key and they put it in an electronic box. The remote start fob will "activate" the box with the chip in it which allows the car to be started. This is completely independent from the regular key in the ignition start. To go anywhere you still have to put the key in the ignition because the remote start will pass it off to the regular ignition when you put it in gear I think.

I want a proximity system. When you get near the car it unlocks and activates the ignition. I want a big ole red button on the console I can mash with my entire palm to start. Small finger button somewhere to turn it off. When I walk away from the car a ways it would lock and deactivate everything.
