Whats pissing me off is that as other brands add factory superchargers etc DCX still comes out with the same ole same ole, 420 HP is great but UPGRADE THE DAMN THING ALREADY! Give me the option to add a S/C anything at this point.

The 392 crate option or the drag package will be priced ridiculously I bet,
And they will sell out just like the 08's. And they will be over MSRP mostly everywhere just like the 08's. I dont care what stock suspension they put on it, its coming off right away anyway. I just got my brochure in the mail today and Im in "C" status with a guarantee for a Black 08. Just like any LX it needs performance upgrades to compete. Coilovers, Sways, Quaife, Axles etc.

I would wait to see what is in the '09 Challenger...
I would bet he 6.1L will stil be standard with the adder of a 6-speed auto and with the 6.4L and/or 6 speed manual as an option
Like I said you could get a stronger fully forged 392 stroker kit, with better cam and heads as an adder, for your car for less than this option will cost.

You can now take a 6.1L engine, and upgrade it to a 6.4L fully forged, specifically designed for NA, Turbo, SC, or Nitrous applications, and do it for less than 5 grand - even if you include lots of bells and whistles and labor charges. Perhaps as low as 3 grand.

The Chally is going to be a nice looking car....you just thought it might have been a LOT lighter and a litttle quicker....before we had to start modding it. Imagine what you would save it came with a 6.4L rght out the door. Thye could have doen it and still kept the price low.
But wait....I think when it came out in late '69 its problem wth the 'cuda and even the RoadRunner was weight even then. It may have even been heavier than the GTX.

Call me a bitch or whatever, but I love our autostick option... can flop through gears, then throw it in D for cruising. Can't beat it, IMO.

    See another response below...

I believe Toyota offers this at dealerships... with warranties!

I read somewhere that Chrysler is heading towards smaller engines for production/street vehicles now that the 6.1 has come. Food for thought.

x2 there... especially since I don't have to work the clutch everytime I want to shift
And I don't have to work my self to death in traffic...just move the stick right or left at the right RPM.... if I want to even Auto/Stick in traffic. Not such a luxury with a manual.

I still miss my stick. This is the first auto I've had in, umm, ~30 years? I like to autostick it at times but I just can seem to get in touch with it like I could a clutch. On the downshifts. I can upshift OK. With my clutches it was just sort of second nature as to whether I could grab 2 gears or not on a downshift. Just haven't got that feel with this, at least not yet.

I liked a clutch in my earlier street machines, I had a couple of Chevys... A '55 with a heavily modded 396/375 and a M22 4-speed (called a "rock crusher" cause it had very close to straight tooth gears for strength, not very helical in design at all) with a clutch so strong that it almost took 2 feet to engage it.... then I put the same engine/tranny in a '68 Camaro SS body I built with a tilt fiberglass glass front cap.
but I lived in Memphis, TN and there was not a lot of traffic even in the city and a lot of open and straight back roads to enjoy the clutch.

Traded the Camaro for a '69 Dart 340 Swinger Street/Strip car with a custom paint job and a lot of suspension mods including a rollbar. I later swapped the 340 for a heavily modded 440 6-pack with a fully manual (like having permanent Auto/Stick) street/strip 727 Torqueflite automatic with a 3800 stall converter and a narrowed dana rear running 4.10 gears. Wickedest car I have ever owned.

Then I moved to CA...too much traffic every where to enjoy a clutch driven street machine.
Considering you live in San Jose you have a lot of stop and go traffic also unless you work 3rd shift...I have been in the south bay area working a few times.

Well, I'm not working at all currently... that's why I have countless hours to spend here . but I just really enjoy shifting. Even in heavy traffic. Last car didn't have cup holders so it wasn't so convenient when drinking coffee but you learn to work around it. Haha, coffee, cigarette, and you get a whole lot of body parts involved in driving.
