I met up with Sgt Stanko, Hemi@last, Envied, and ValleySRT tonight. I would have gotten in probably 8 runs, but I didn't have a helmet. After my first pass, I was sidelined until the rest of the crew arrived and I had a helmet to borrow. I had the GCSRT8 tonight, but instead of the Diablo CMR tune, I was using the canned Perf 91 CAI tune. I had been at the dealer today and restored my factory tune, erasing the custom tune. I didn't feel like driving an hour home and then an hour and a half back to use it. I'm guessing my times would have been at least 2 tenths better with the custom tune. I'm sure Steve will chime in soon with his results.

Very respectable times there. Can't wait to see how they compare to the times you lay down with the CMR tune.

These are great times considering no headers, heads, etc.
I guess the Volant CAI works really well!!!

Too bad I had no LX cars to beat up on after that 1.6 60' and 7.7 run down the track!:king:

As far as helmets go, One of the best places to buy one is Honda, Suzuki or Yamaha shops they are the cheapest and the highest rated. I think we need a rating of Snell 2005 on NHRA tracks. I got mine at a Yamaha shop, $80.00.

There's Harley shop by me that I was gonna check out, but I'm guessing this would probably be cheaper.

Sorry guys, but this talk about cheap helmets is getting to me. Why would you spend hundreds, dare I say, thousands on mods, and then skimp on your own safety?

If you've seen someone buy the farm at the track you know that it can get friggin nasty, dare I say lethal, real quick.

Please buy a quality helmet. Buy an SA2005 Rated helmet.

Don't settle for SA2000, even though they are practically giving them away. There's a reason for that. They will no longer be accepted at the tracks in the near future. Helmets have a lifespan.

There are plenty of sources for quality helmets online. Here's a good one with some relatively inexpensive units.

Harley will not have SNELL 2000 approved helmets. You need to go to a off road dirt bike shop......like a Yamaha/Honda/Kawasaki dealer.
