I notice there is a very nice sticky going up on the SRT10 forum on installing a line-Loc on the brake system on a SRT10 RAM. For those of you that do know what a line-loc is: It uses a solenoid to lock the brake pressure on the front wheels. Here is how it works in a drag race and/or the pre-stage burnout(the only time you will use it). (It can also be used for some nasty burn-outs): 1. You pull up to the starting line. 2. You apply the brakes hard 3. You flip the switch which engages the solenoid that "locks" this brake pressure on the front wheels. The you can take your foot off the brakes. 4. You can now bring the car up to the rev point just before braking the rear tires loose (Unless you are doing a burn out). This really a great accessory for a high stall torque converter. 5. On green (actually last yellow) you romp the throttle and release the solenoid and you are off on a wicked quick launch. This also really prevents you from red lighting on throttle up while the tree lights are moving. I had one of these on my '69 Dodge Dart street machine (440 6-pack/Dana 4.10 rear/Fairbanks Strret/StripTorqueflite tranny (running a 3400 stall) and a host of other mods). It was a wicked mod to an already wicked machine. Now the question.... What are the feelings about PCM ESP/TQM interference and has anyone thought of using a line-loc on theiur SRT8? I mean it is sort of like pulling up to a wall and doing the same thing. I know with ESP off this problem will obviously be out of the way. I don't think there is ESP on the SRT10s, so this is not there problem. I think TQM (torque management) will interfere because it does already which is why we cannot launch at full throttle. So there may have to be quite a bit of torque management removal. Probably there would have to be a CMR tuning adjustment to the level of the B&G Stage IV flash.
I don't see it on the SLP site. Actually it is sort of a universal kit. It just a 12V solenoid/valve with proper ports and switch. Thse kit used on the SRT10 Ram needed to have brake lines made. Only thing would be if they supplied brake lines and place to mount solenoid.
Screen name dswanger over on LXF installed one on his SRT-8 to good result. Check around for him - see if he'll stop by and explain what he did and how it's holding up.
Correct. No ESP on the SRT-10's (trucks or cars). However: Both the SRT-10 cars and trucks have Front and Rear ABS. With the ESP you LX guys have, a line lock will be a bit more complicated. It looks like the guy with all the blue split-loom tubing has a nice setup, but I couldn't decipher the posts. If you've got the budget, go with the stainless steel braided lines. Bending tubing is over-rated.
Sounds like it would make things easier at the tree...at least for less experienced drag racers. My friend's drag car (81 Grand Prix with a 455) has this and it does launch like a mother.
What about the fitting that's installed in the line for the front brakes on the SRT8? There's no obvious reason for it to exist other than drive up the cost of manufacture and maybe.... to make dropping in a line lock, easy. Proportioning on these cars is done electronically on the rear brakes only.

That Maryland Speed kit looks nice. Too bad you have to drill into the wheel well to mount it. That's kind of a bummer.
A line lock is not a trans break is not something you turn on at the tree to hold yourself still untill launch. it is to hold you still when doing a burn out. it is not needed for an automatic car but is does make thing easier than foot breking it. ( left foot on the break and rtight on the gas to burn out) The reason that Kevan has it is so he can flip it on to hold himself still and still have his left foot to clutch when burning out. so this will not get you a better ET nor will it help you at the track with an automatic.
I think it releases pressure faster than you can with your foot. So it should work for launchs better than holding your foot to the floor to rev to our approximate 1200-2000 launch rpm? Because you don't have the brake cylinder engaged (your foot is off the brake) there is no pressure on the cylinder side port of the "Line Loc" solenoid. When the solenoid opens (by switch..... on the last yellow of the tree) the locked pressure on the disk brakes will be relieved faster. So......is the "finger quicker than the foot", or am I missing something else here in brake hydraulics?
Yea. I don't think it's a speed thing with how fast you can release the brakes. I thought it was a brakes on front wheels only thing and mainly a foot thing for those who have to work a clutch pedal too.
I have the line loc on my truck...the sole purpose is to keep the truck from rolling at the tree. Hard to hold in clutch, brake and rev up at the same time......I have a button on my hurst T handle that I hold in to keep me parked and release the button at launch.. ...with 650+ FTLBS of TQ at the rear wheels burnouts are no problem..
I don't think so. There isn't a shred of video proof that this is a fact...like..."srt8smokin" or some shiz like that...nottin, nada... ;-P
