This is directed at the SRT-8 crowd.

When will we see the first 10 second 1/4 mile?

    Who will it be?

    Where will it be?

    Hemi31 out east?

Someone like me or PPP in the midwest (we're running on 3/22)

Fomeone like Gilgamesh or 8yourM5 or HalV out west?

    Who/when/where.......how?

I'll throw this out there: I expect to see at least one, but maybe as many as 3 cars hit 10 seconds in Indianapolis on March 22.

You forgot Ron, NorCalSRT-8, who was the 1st sub 11.50. Has ran 11.30, and could have already been in the 10's if he could have gotten traction at Sacramento with his Direct Port N2O.

Our Ron has a shot with tuning and the addition of N2O.

Odds are it will be a stroker N2O car. The 1st to get a good 60' without blowing the tires off somewhere with decent track prep. Will not happen at SF.

Gilgamesh is on the East Coast J...

Hal pretty much summed it up, but I think the guys running at Englishtown or Atco with the negative DA will reach it first.

Now, if you want to take this a bit further and keep it at a Sea Level or above, then my bet would be Hal, NorCalSRT8, Udluuz....

Yup, I would pick someone from the West Coast at Sea Level or above.

Yes - sorry. Didn't mean to dis anyone by leaving their name off the list. NorCal and Ron are both good possibilities. When are they first running with the right set-up/right potential conditions?

Huh. All this time I was thinking Gilgamesh was a westcoaster.

There's a PPP 426 with N2O who's been getting all tuned up this winter in Ohio. I think he'll be at the 3/22 event as well.

When does Atco/Englishtown start racing again? Or maybe they can race year 'round?

Perhaps. But the question is who will be first? If that's your guess for "who" will be first, what is your guess for "when" and "where"?

Well I was actually grouping you in with the East Coasters. Sorry. You are definitely in the top three of my picks.
I too thought of BGB and MatFab, but since they are building a Jeep (WK platform) I figured they would be in a different class. You know AWD and all. lol

My first thought was that this Jeep will be the FIRST to breach single digits in the 1/4. That's my guess.

A 9.9 second New Hemi will be impressive. It's going to require some lightening of the vehicle IMO. PPP might think they can hit 9.xx with spray. And maybe he can.

I don't think I'm personally ever going to be in that range on this chassis.

Props to the first person to do single digits regardless!

Single digits aren't possible with the Jeep, unless it has a completely non-stock drivetrain.

For sure would need the rear replaced.......and the hp & tq required to
generate a 9 with these 5000lb bricks would be at least 700+ to the wheels.

then the tranny and transfer case, let alone the front diff would be in great jeopardy.

Honestly in my opinion, to do it in a Jeep, you would need a severly beefed transmission,
a complete rear (9inch)......might as well put slicks and just be 2wd, and
have, stronger engine internals, lots of boost or at least 300 shot of nitrous.

Sort of like the baddest TBSSs rwd that are out there.

Now.............with that being said, is it still an SRT8 Jeep?

Is Johnny Lightning's 8sec truck a Lightning pickup?
Completely worked motor, big turbo, tubbed, tubed, lightweight panels, full on race truck....what do you think?

    Is a 6 sec Pro-Stock Cavalier, a Cavalier? LOL.

Now, on the other hand, in a car based Hemi, probably possible without altering the whole car and it's stock configured systems.

A big 426 kit, with lots of nitrous, on slicks or DRs in a 300, or Charger, would still be creditable in my book???????
I mean, original HEMI configuration, with a power adder, and beefed axles........yeah, that should count, right?

I am not trying to contradict myself, but kinda 2 different animals there in my opinion.

Goodluck thinking about all that speculation.

I do feel a 10 second pass or two would be feasible in a Jeep if everything was
perfect......and didn't tear anything up.......but you would still need to be
    making big power.

    My Jeep with a 250 shot, on a 40* day with a perfect track......maybe a 10.99999@123??????? maybe.

But, besides a rich person who is going to "try" that, I AIN'T.

ha exactly.. Don't forget the outside will be completly stock looking. Without the truck turned on you will have NO CLUE its anything but stock. That in my book makes it still a jeep..

So lets see here.. its using the numbers matching block it came with but bored and stroked, the transmission it came with but modified by renntech, obviously it needed a new rear so a 9" with arb air locker was put in its place. We are building a custom YSI supercharger setup and we could have even used the stock intake but decided to use a sheetmetal for something different and make it a tad easier to run nitrous under it..

So all in all how would that not be a jeep? just because we replaced the internals so it didn't blow up? Its not a tube chassis truck, Its NOT going to be stripped at the track.. It will be a full interiored jeep with navigation, backup camera, remote start.. everything yours has (cobrakid).. just more..

No LX will do 9's with our current drive train. Will need different or heavily beefed transmission , Non IRS differential, driveshaft, suspension, and better wheel tire combo. I will be happy with some high 10's and have a streetable car I can drive daily. Not a 4500 race car with no street manners. My new setup will make huge HP if necessary, as will others.

We can make the power easily, it's putting it to the ground, holding it to the ground, and not breaking anything.

This is so much harder at 4400 to 4600 lbs than in a under 3000 lb Camaro or Mustang.

Ahhh - we begin to reach the million dollar question in drag racing?

When is a vehicle no longer the original vehicle?

Ask NHRA and the Stock/Superstock classes.

    Do aftermarket internals define it?
    Does street legality define it?
Do stronger halfshafts define it? If not, then does a whole new rear diff define it? Then what about Quaiffe?

This debate could/will/does go on forever.

If I were boss (I'm not - drat!) here's a couple of guidlines I'd use:

    1) Stock body/sheetmetal everywhere. I'd allow changes to plastic body pieces, like front and rear fascia kits for appearances only.

    2) A block of the type originally available for sale in the platform. I.E. a 5.7, 6.1 factory block, or even the 392 crate motor.

    3) The transmission/transaxle as originally equipped from the factory, with allowances for strengthening it.

    4) A stock-type rear-end, which means an independent rear suspension. Quaiffe would still be ok, as would upgraded halfshafts.

    5) Stock heads - or their equivalent, as potentially ported by anyone.

    So what's that allow?

    A) Take that block and give it as many cubes as you dare. Change those rods/pistons/crank however you want. Just gotta fit it into an original block.

    B) Run that tranny - and build it up however you can.

    C) Strengthen that rear end, but leave the stock set-up.

    D) Change the cam, port those heads, port that intake, add that exhaust

    E) You think you can turbo or supercharge or nitrous it? Or any combo of those? Bring it on.

    F) Different wheels and tires for traction? Absolutely. Just don't go cutting and tubbing the thing. Then you have a pro street car based on an LX (or WK) but you don't have an LX anymore.

All just my opinions with a little thought. I'm sure no one will agree with EVERYTHING I wrote.

So basically the only diff between those two sinerios is the jeep isn't using the stock rear because there is no modifications that can be made at this time which th LX cars have a quafe AND halfshafts...

Plus lets see here.. we are also running stock rims with DR's on the back and also are planning on keeping it in AWD mode.. did i forget this will be his daily sunny day driver..
