6.4-liter V8 HEMI (2009/2010) 420 hp / 420 lb-ft torque http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_engines.htm A 6.4L-liter V8 HEMI is the newest powerplant set to come out of the SRT division, most likely debuting in the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT. Other models expected to receive the new engine are the 2009 or 2010 models of the Grand Cherokee SRT8, 300C SRT8 and the Charger SRT8. The new engine was derived from the 540-hp "392" crate engine that was introduced by Mopar at the 2005 SEMA show in Las Vegas. The production version is expected to produce anywhere from 475-hp to 525-hp.
Kind of expected to see that engine become OEM. Woo Hoo. Hoefully they will continue with their plans.
Well, with the 5.7 getting the 380hp treatment, and from what I hear with the Variable cam timing or whatever they are working on, the 6.1 should be up to 450hp+. But, if thats not the case, it might suck to run the 5.7 and 6.1 at about 50hp different, and roughly the same torque. Now, a 5.7 at 380/400 (new) 6.1 at 450/450 (Speculated with the new cams) 6.4 at 525/550 (who knows) all seem possible. whatever they are speculating, they are adding more power amongst the talks of the HEMI being removed from cars.
TQ is high for the speculated 6.4, I think we'd be lucky to see 500-510 at the flywheel. Either way, hopefully the 6.4s find their way into the SRT8s asap.
yeah, i have no idea on the 6.4 numbers. just throwing something out but yeah, I REALLY wanna see a strong 6.4 in a jeep too!
More than anything I'm curious to see if they change/revise (maybe based on the '08 Vipers castings that were supposed to be conceived from the 6.1s) the heads at all. We're only talking about an extra 22 cubes so most of the power has to come from a different camshaft/VCT and other possible changes to the top end.
