:help: It's me again with another noob question. Alright here's the low down. I'm wanting to purchase a turbo upgrade for my car along with the supporting mods. My original plan was to purchase a stage 3 w/toys, fmic, motor/tranny mounts, hbrace/traction bars, wideband, 3" o2 hosing, and a 3" downpipe w/cat. I've been trying to research info, prices, group buys, and availability of all these parts. And I'm not really wanting to wait until middle of summer for a stage 3. So I looked on AGP's site and see that they have a stage 4 kit that has some of these parts included. I was leaning to the stage 3 kit because of the plug and play factor, and because I won't have to make trips to a dyno to have it tuned (keep in mind I live in western Kentucky). I thought I would have alot of tuning with a aftermarket setup but I read that they have pre-tuned fuel maps. So what do you think I should do? There's not a "performance" shop anywhere local to me and I'm kind of in the blind so I'm needing some input good or bad...........I'm all ears.
My goal is 400-450 horsepower and high 11 or low 12 second quarter times. Is this even possible with the stage 3 kit? And this will not be my daily driver.

Thanks for all the help.

I would go after market. AGP is now offering SCT flashes for 600 +100 dollars for a 3bar sensor. YOu get 3 tunes and the FREE emailed tunes if changes are made.

FYI thats the route im going. :ninja:

So the included Turbo XS DTEC in the stage 4 with pretuned fuel maps won't handle my goals? What's the advantage in going with SCT flash?

Not going to recommend one or the other, but I can tell you that the Stage 3 Mopar kit can definitely do 400-450HP with proper extras. It doesn't take a whole lot really, heck if you just do one mod, the compressor wheel upgrade, you can put down 450 easily. You need new injectors and fuel control, but that's about it.

I just found the youtube video of the SCT flash on the black srt with the "stage 3 killer". Looked pretty good and I love the fact that there are no "pops" on the decel.

Here's the link

Are you running this setup or know someone that is? I'm really starting to like what I'm seeing with AGP setup.

you can't really go wrong with either kit. both will give you the power you need, it's more about how you want to get there.

s3 - plug and play. no tuning unless you want to. it's a great turbo, good spool time, and it's built by mopar who know what they're doing.

s4 - a 50 trim is a great turbo, good spool time (a little later than s3 but not a whole lot, it is a bigger turbo). you do have to tune, but it's not really that big of a deal. yes you can get pre-tuned maps but those are just base maps, you will have to fine tune for your specific car. but again, not really that bad. you have the ability to make more power with this turbo than you do a s3.

i am running s3, not quite a stock kit though. i run faster than many 50 trims around here. but i'm tuned and have supporting mods so it's not a stock-to-stock comparison. you can get good times/numbers with both kits, for me i'm more interested in track times than dyno numbers and i'm nearing where i want to be. this turbo keeps impressing me, although it will get pulled for a larger one eventually as there are limits.

How long ago did you order your kit? I just ordered a Stage 3 w/toys & TiAl wheel on the 1st of March. I plan on sending it out and getting the DCR mod done to it. Another friend of mine by me has that setup and I was very impressed but also it was the first time I rode in a Stage 3 car before.

Placed order through speed and power on 1/9 I believe, got it on 3/13 at my door.

The hold up had something to do with the supplier of the bezel not coming through, I'm pretty sure thats overwith, the 2-3 people I've talked to have been getting their parts. Wait might be shorter now. Before that I talked to a guy who had been waiting over 6 months.

Wow! That was fast. I ordered mine through Mopar Super Center just cause most of my club has probably bought close to a dozen Stage 3 kits from them in the past. I also heard another hold up was cause of the Steel wheel's too. I just hope I get it before the end of spring and have it installed by the time it's summer. I still will need to have it sent to DCR for the port work once I get it. Also did you order a Stage 3 w/ or w/o toys and what wheel did you go with?

Update.

Well I have jumped back and forth from stage 3 to the stage 4 at least 3 times. And I think I'm going to go the stage 4 route. They have ditched the dtec (gameboy advance) for the SCT flash, and seem to be getting great results. Plus they say that it is ALOT easier to tune. Plus you also receive alot of extra mods with the AGP kit that I would have to purchase seperate from the stage 3 like: AGP motor and tranny mounts, AGP hard pipes w/HKS bov, AGP fmic, AGP cai, etc. So in the end I think it may be cheaper to go this route. Even after adding the return line kit and the 50 trim dbb option the price is like $4850.00 I think.
And I'm still going to have to order a QTP downpipe with ecut and Slowboy Racing crash bar. Does anyone know if the crash bar will clear the AGP large fmic? (not the race version)

Will

just to throw some more info at you so you are on overload. PTP has a S3K which is a wacked out stock turbo, combine that with the Intimidator manifold w/external waste gate. Many of us are still waiting on dyno #'s but they are bosting a 50 trim turbo with this. I'm considering this or AGP 3147.

I am looking for a more streetable killer. 50trim spinning the wheels free at 80mph just isn't in my driving needs, cool, but not for me.

The SCT is better way to go but to FINE tune you will still need the DTEC or SafcII. With the SCT you get 3 maps and FREE upgrades for life AGP is saying.

I wanted high 300 low 400 at wheels but not sure I will have the $$$$ for that type of car.

Keep us posted,
Slyder

i would never put a ptp turbo on my car, but that's just me. if the choice is ptp or agp, go agp imo.
