Has anyone noticed that there will be a "Drag Racing Package" offered for the 2009 Challenger!
The March issue of Car Craft has a short blurb on it plus a whole lot of high end performance parts coming for the second gen HEMI including aluminum block. I wonder if the aluminum block is part of the "Drag Racing Package". I wonder if it will be a 426?
Has anyone got any ionfo on what will be offered in the package?
Look toward the bottom of the page.

I believe it will be late 09, powered by a Mopar 392 with a six speed.

I thought they were calling it the "Track Pack" though.

There's an ultra-limited edition "track pack" that is for sale, and is not even street legal. It's a straight to the track car.

I know someone with one on order...
    (no - not me)

From what I understand, Mopar will be releasing a very limited number of "Pro Stock Drag Car's" that are not street legal. They also will be releasing a "Drag Pack" street legal version in a very limited supply.

I have already found several part numbers for complete vehicles in the parts system with descriptions of GT3, WC, VRL. The kicker to these is you must order 3 at a time with the sale prices rangining from $48,000 - $59,000 each. We have no information on these, and nobody seems to want to give us the details either. We DO NOT KNOW if these are Chally's, and I really doubt they are. Anyone want to order three for s*&^ and giggles?

    Ummm......
I bet I could put together 3 orders for you on pure speculation. Seriously.

Here is some info from MotorTrend.
Car Craft states it will be an off-road only package and I "hear it will have a Dana rear. The Dana rear is probably a no brainerc considering our axle problems.

    http://blogs.motortrend.com/6219766/aftermarket/mopar-to-supply-drag-racing-package-for-2009-challenger/index.html

Here is some info from Chrysler themselves on the coming "package cars" based on the 40th anniversery of the 1968 Dart and Barracuda drag packages.
"The race-only, off-road-use-only parts packages will be sold at Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge dealerships."
    http://cgcomm.daimlerchrysler.com/documents.do?docId=7440&docType=pressrelease&method=display

FYI...for those wondering where "Mopar" originally came from....
"Originally used in the 1920s, Mopar (a simple contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937."

    That is a nice car.
But it is hard to believe they will only use an iron block 392 rated 525 hp and then put in a Dana rear. I believe Chrysler already has an aluminum block for the 5.7/6.1... PN 5153897.
Chrysler also makes a lot of new aluminum parts (block, heads, race-roller rocker system) for the 426-street HEMI.....now that would be nice a nice option...

When I talked to the Mopar engine engineer who is designing the aluminum 6.1/392 block at SEMA, he mentioned that it will/is going to be a Mopar Performance part and there were no plans to put it in a production line vehicle.

I think we have identified these as Viper Competition Coupes for the following race classes.
    GT3
    World Challenge
    VRL

    Dang!!!

Question for you: I see you have your VON listed in your signature. Is there any significance to the VON? My VON is 21124026. Just wondered if lower numbers are earlier orders? And if they should be built sooner, the lower the VON?

You know, I have no idea regarding your question on the VON. I would think that the lower the number the first to be produced, but who knows. My vehicle has been on the books at Chrysler since December 4th, when did your order go in?

Well hopefully the lower numbers are produced first, and yours is one of the lowest VON#'s I have seen then.

Maybe you have a shot at getting #4 Chally.
