anybody try to take the filter off the end of the mopar cai and place a 90 elbow at the end of the existing tube and sit the filter directly on top of the existing 4" hole cut out in our cars frame. had the front facia off this weekend to install grille and could see that this mod could easily be done but didn't know if this would do anything??? possibly get better air flow? suck up debris??

seems like we could get colder air, but would we get enough?? someone smarter than me please respond. if i were to do this mod how the heck could i tell if it made any noticable difference. any ideas??

maybe pick up a little cooler air and possibly somedebris, but this is kinda what the gsm kits do anyway. i have seen others do mods similar to your idea and i have not heard any bad results.

I have done this with my Mopar CAI.

Do a search of my posts and you will find links with pics of my customized CAI.
