I know there are a couple threads out comparing them, but they only compare the KOOKs 1 7/8s vs the SW 1 3/4s. Anyone compare the KOOKS vs the 1 7/8s SW? The differences, build, fit, and HP gain. All the info would be great on both 1 7/8 headers. Thanks
Jared, No one's done any back to back testing with the 1 7/8"s. Tony and Claude (both use Kooks) need to get to a dynojet (still not the best means to compare but better than nothing). I made 401/400rw SAE on a DJ with SWorks 1 7/8" and their catback and I don't know of anyone else with a stock longblock that's made more.
Hope you avoided the proctoligst while you were down As far as the tread goes, only have experience with the Kooks
Andy, I've been on the local Dynojet but only got 371/378 rw SAE on this particular one. I prefer to rely on track corrected numbers, you should be in the 11's Claude
SWorks. All Everlast 304 Stainless, full 3", straight through mufflers with an X-pipe and ZERO drone anywhere; with a lifetime warranty. allflashnocash had his Jeep over the other day when we were getting it ready for a B&G CMR. He has SWorks 1 7/8" catted longtubes (same as me) but a Borla S catback. By comparison we both agreed that the Borla sounds significantly less crisp. Hey may be converting in the near future as well.
Was that after you had all your mods Claude? Also, did you use a Predator to disable ESP on the dyno or just pull the ABS fuse? If it was the latter I think that's why your numbers were low. They are about identical to what I used to net without turning off the ESP. I think dyno's freak out the PCM w/out a Predator. I agree, I can't wait for the tracks to open in the spring. When does Naiperville open again?
That was with all my mods, 3 days after I ran my best 12.16 time. No Predator, I had BG2 and pulled the ABS fuse Napierville track should open early April, I hope to have Predator CMR tuning by then
Should be an interesting year to say the least. The race to N/A stock longblock 11s appears to be coming to an end.
OK Andy, you're on. What are the rules? No heads and cam for sure, how about intake, TB ? Now you'll become a strip junky, like me Claude
Kooks here with a B&B customized catback w/ X pipe and much better straight thru flow Magnaflows and no drone here, but I'm small block nascar loud and I love it!!!! Still yet to hear one like mine and I mean thru the entire SRT8 line up not just the JGC.
I've seen multiple Borla S owners complain about drone. I've personally experienced it in Steve's (allflashnocash's) jeep even with the stock exhaust manifolds. The Sworks sytem has ZERO drone anywhere in the band, at any speed. As for loudness, no, they are on par with each other. The pitch of the Sworks system is a tad higher and definitely less muddy (more crisp).
I've got a lot of catching up to do to nip at your heels Claude. Let's play true to the words and say stock longblock= untouched heads/cam/shortblock of course naturally aspirated. Everything else including intake manifold, TB, etc. is fair game. I think we're both going to be investing in 90mm TBs, and UD pulleys as soon as they're available, lol!
I am looking at having headers and some other stuff installed too. I am leaning towards the SW at the moment. I have an 08 and I will not be getting a tune for some time. I have heard that the kooks give you a cel and that this is due to the sensor location. Can anyone ellaborate? The few threads regarding the sworks seem to indicate no such issues.
You will get the CEL with Kooks and SW's. They can change the locations of the o2 sensors all they want the CEl will always pop up with aftermarket headers. Its not a KOOKS problem it not a problem at all. Dashhawk or Predator for a more permanent fix.
