A friend had taken some video of me last fall. This video shows three consecutive runs I did. The first run created a curious, fake-looking timeslip. See for yourself. The 2nd run was a record trap speed and E.T. but the record lasted a whopping hour. The 3rd run is still my personal best E.T., and I believe it's the second fastest trap speed ever recorded in an LX. I need to figure out how to actaully embed it here)
very very nice my man...that first run was a little screwy haha...although if you actually did that (MPH vs ET even possible)...that is the greatest run ever hahahaha
I like the sound of the JR dragster in the background on the 1st video..lol Nice runs. Stock 1/2 shafts in those videos???
Very nice Matt. The Hennessy Turbo 6.1 is the only other 123 I'm aware of. That was a stock motor also, but running heavy boost, if I remember right.
I didn't want to correct Erik. LOL I was the 1st to run the VOXX's. Best fitting as they are 5X115 and are concentric. Wish they had a 10".
LOL. You should see the timeslip. I thought sure something was wrong. 12.000 seconds at 120.000 MPH. I'm betting that virtually NEVER happens. Stock halfshafts. Keep in mind I'm leaving the starting line virtually stock. Pay close attention to the 2nd run. You can hear me purge at about 1:50 into the video or so. Almost 2 seconds after I floor it, you'll hear the tires break loose again. That's when the nitrous kicked in. The car also would break loose during the 1st to 2nd gear shift. And that was with drag radials on. Normally I'd agree, but I'm adding som much more horsepower this year that I expect traps to go up as well. We should take guesses. I'm thinking I can pull a 126 mph run. Thanks! Again - pay attention to the 2nd run. You can hear the drag radials break loose almost 2 seconds into the run. That's when the nitrous hits. I think the Hennessy turbo coincidentally went exactly 123.05 as well. According to my records a Canadian using screen name "Daniel Forand" claims 123.74 in a supercharged SRT-8. There's also "srt8mat" who claims 124.58 mph in 11.98 seconds with nitrous only and no engine work (similar to me). So if everyone is to be believed, I guess I'm 3rd fastest of those I'm aware.
Yes - those were borrowed Voxx wheels with Nitto drag radials. This winter I bought some ultra lightweight 17" wheels and will be using the Hoosiers. I also just took delivery yesterday of the 17" compact spare wheels, I already have the spacers, and I'll be getting the M&H front skinnies mounted on them.
You have a KILLER in that 300... Looking at your mods, would y6ou say that your biggest difference maker is the nitrous...
LOL. I'd say that's virtually the ONLY difference maker. By themselves, all of my other mods are worth maybe .3 seconds. However, in my opinion, the exhaust work is what helps the nitrous work so well on my car. And of course being able to tune it in using the Predator is tremendously important as well.
congrats! Great runs........ I think the 120 on the 12.00 is very plausible. It is weird how vehicles pick up mph when they spin, I would really like the scientific explanation for that. I have observed that for years........when you spin 99% of the time you pick up mph?????? weird.
It's not that you pick up MPH, it's that you lose time. That 120 should have been an 11.80 run, but because of spin it took more time. So you end up with a 12.00 run that looks faster than it should at 120MPH, when in reality you had a 120 MPH run that took too long because of wheelspin in the first 100 feet.
It was great watching that video, that second race has a great perspective of just how fast your car disappears! Who was that in the black 300 in your first race, he came down from Indy with you guys didn't he? That car had about every MOPAR part currently made for our cars - including a 392! Does he own a dealership, I mean he had a little support staff along with a support vehicle which was a 2008 Dodge minivan...at that time they were just coming out. That IS350 you blew away in the last race was my friend's car. He can hang with me for a little while and I think he was hoping to run close with you. Well...it didn't quite go that way. Afterwards he came up to me and was like WTF??? Eric
Hahaha! Good to see you around here Eric. Yes - the black SRT-8 is a Mopar 392 crate motor. The owner is the general manager of a very large Chrysler dealer here in Indy. His employee made the video. We're trying to get an SRT-8 event going for Saturday, March 22 at IRP if you can make it.
