I defy anyone to beat this.

I ordered a part for one of my cars. Today it arrived in a box. My wife knew what I ordered, and we both looked at the box and said "Either they shipped the wrong item, or that's the world's most wasteful packaging."

Here's the package. Note the Key to give you scale:

Now. What could come in such a box? Well - apparently 5 million of the item I ordered. Here's what was in the box. Again, note the key for scale comparison:

That's right. In case you're wondering, it's a speedometer gear. Here's a picture of the gear on the box in which it was shipped. Look closely:

    Can anyone top that?

I think I have boogers bigger than that, but they usually get flicked, not packaged.

About the only way to make that even MORE ridiculous is if they had wrapped the gear in bubble wrap & filled the box with styrofoam pellets.:what:

    Shipping and Handling: $7.95

And that's exactly what my wife said: "They could have put that in an envelope for 42 cents!"

    Ummm......

The box was filled with that brown paper all scrunched up for packing. And the gear came in it's own little clear plastic baggy.

At least it wasn't from a government agency so we all didn't paid to have it shipped that way!

I can beat that every day of the week. The company that puts all the little chips in, well most of the computers out there has mastered that sort of packaging. I've seen refridgerator boxes for parts as big as your hand.
