The following was posted on the OC forum I would appreciate some feedback. I host the Mopar Race in Fontana May 24-25 (we also have car show midway and swap). Would like to add an SRT8 class, but realistically need to know if you all want it. We would need 30-40 cars to make a good race. Can also add a modern mopar car show class. Let me hear your thoughts. Here is the link http://www.srt8oc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16005
I'll be there with a few friends about 20 or so ready to race. I already talked to a few guys today about this event and they are in. Maybe the class should be Modern Mopar even though we will all be LX vehilces not all will be SRT8's
I hope it's better than last years. It was open to everything and everybody. If it's a Mopar Race, it should be a Mopar race. Getting a lane every 2 or 3 hours isn't much of a Mopars at the Track event.
Well id like to see some classes. 1 - Modded (CAI, TUNES / BG / PREDITOR, CAT BACK EHX AND HEADERS. 2 - Bone stock ( no mods at all - just like nhra pure stock classes (ome parts only and that means a 203 stat lol ) 3 - All out modded (blown,no2 and anything else)
Check out the like below. They are having SRT racing. And raffling off a 68 Plymouth Valiant. http://www.moparshootout.com/SoCalShootout/raceclass.html [/IMG]
clarification Last years race was not open to everyone. The bracket classes, Sportsman, Pro, Super Pro and New Gen were Mopar only and they remain that way this year. We do have two Nostalgia classes open to all makes Nostalgia Gas and Stock/Super Stock - if I ran these classes Mopar only they would have less than 20 cars and I would loose my sponsors. Allowing the Stock/Super Stock class also got us the HEMI Shootout this year. Last year all classes got 5 runs on Saturday, this is a tremendous number of runs for a race - most places you only get 2 time trials. So we ran 5 runs from 9am to 5:30ish, thats 8 hours 5 runs so I'm not sure how you got 3 hours between runs? So - show up and dominate the racing!!!! Last year we had less then 20 Modern Mopars. You can also run Trophy on Saturday and New Gen/Modern Mopar on Sunday, that should be tons of track time. Thanks for the feedback and remember when you pre-register you get a guest/crew member free - this goes away at the gate.
classes I, too, would love to run all these classes - the bottom line is it takes a 32 car field to run a class and pay the bills. I believe the cars are out there we just need a little commitment. Can we make plans now for 2009?????? This means many of you need to race in Fontana this year and overwelm the single class so we have to divide it up next year - it is also THE way to get sponsorship for the class, the first sponsor question is how many cars did you race!!!!! I'll make a deal - you get 32 cars ready to pre-register and I'll give everyone 2 additional passes, instead of the one listed.:busted:
I agree with Hal I hope its all Mopar. As for the 68 Valiant.. well they have been raffling it off for the last few years now. I don't think I'll toss any more 5s their way. You know fool me once.....
"You know fool me once"........I've just been down that road!!!! Oooohh but the event is a good time.
I am going. It seems like the weather will be favorable -- cool 65 / 70 and 50% humidity. Anyone else?
No wind in Fontana. Yea right. jk hey Steve don't forget to bring some rope for your chairs so they don't fly away and hit somebodys car again. hahaha
