Met with Scott today for the second time within this week, and this time, he had a prototype welded up for me! And she was a BEAST! Due to the fact that in Greek myth, Thor rode a four-wheeled chariot, the official name will be the THORhammer....pretty friggin cool analogy in my book!

Anyway, it was only a test fit, and everything fit wonderful. The one thing that will give Scott a slight edge on the competition, is the way the air flow doesn't get tight and jumbled as it enters the throttle body. It has the widest, most curvacious elbow of any intake currently on the market for our GCs. Due to that, and the massive size of this thing, a small (and I mean small) portion of the fan shroud has to be shaved down. Notice I say shaved, not cut, not gouged, not sawed. Just shaven down about a 1'2 to make room for THOR.

Now the only performance mod I have done, is the factory resonators removed. Which I'm sure is good for only a few ponies at best. So this test was very fair for the real world. Number one, this thing gives the Jeep sound much throatier, deeper, growl. It's like it gives the exhuast a reason to be there, by shoving air through the engine like, well....a hammer! So upon first acceleration, I instantly noticed a deeper growl. Great first impression!

Number two, much greater SOTP giddyup! We did about 15 minutes of interstate driving. And getting from 70mph to 110mph seem to have come about a second sooner, and seemed easier to do. Now before I go any further, and start getting critics and technical gurus bashing me.....THESE ARE JUST BASIC OPINIONS AND SOTP OBSERVATIONS THAT I AM SHARING FOR GENERAL INFORMATION! THIS IS BY NO MEANS A SPECIFIC, DASHHAWK, EVIC, OR DYNO CRITICAL DATA READING. K? But from a dead stop, or a slow roll, the GC seemed like it had gotten tuned or something! I mean it just woke up! I already thought from a dig, the Jeep was a monster, but it got a little extra kick in the pants from the new THOR! It seemed to plant me in the seat a little harder.
Lastly, the IAT sensor (due to the great design) is by default relocated to the fattest, coolest part of the intake! And as we were driving tonite, the IAT wasn't even plugged in, since it was only a prototype! So with it probably reading a little hot, I was still impressed with the intake! I would imagine with a properly placed IAT on the intake, it would have yielded even greater success.

The filter on this thing is a monster, the inlet is a monster, the design is superb, the sound is insane, and the acceleration is improved. To me it's a visual, audible, and g-force success! The THOR exceeded my expectations in what I expected and it wasn't even completed!

Scott wanted me to share that while a 3 week time frame will probably be acceptable, he is predicting a 4 week time frame, and he will be ready to start accepting orders! He had a tough time with finding a manufacturer for awhile, and that disrupted his whole business. But since that got resolved, he has put the intake for the GC at the front of his priorities.....and we are almost there! Bring the noise baby!

Nope. And even if he would have let me, I wouldn't steal his thunder like that. Plus, until it's finished, I wouldn't want to put pics out there. As bad as I wanted to....no pics. But she's a beauty!

Hey good to see ya CB! Long time no talk bro! :)

Did you reset the PCM before test drive or did you let it "LEARN" the new intake, wonder if it would be even better (or worse) once the computer learned the new intake???

    Hey Chase,

Good initial write up on the newest CAI to hit the market soon! Sounds great! I want that one too! Straying from this topic, Guess what we just did a photo shoot on yesterday? The new SRT8 Challenger! We were doing a shoot that will go on the new dealer brochures. It's an awesome looking car to say the least.

I did....we pulled the fuse. It took about 5 minutes, but once the PCM learned it.....woooohooooo!
Said he'll be very competitive with what is currently out!
Yup. I'll be meeting Scott within weeks to take delivery of mine (in semi-gloss black) whenever we can find an AWD dyno somewhere between us!

The only luck needed will be for the competition at the first red light I hit!
