Well folks, found myself on a dyno again yesterday and i again, walked away shaking my head...... i now have the pred with the 93 cai tune and found that the addition of any fuel is not a good thing for hp!!! i know some of you have up'd the % of fuel in the wot ranges on your predator tunes. i noticed most all of you are running 91 octane tunes. well, for any doing the 93 oct, its makes it pig rich!!! when i saw the a/f readings i was pretty stunned. also, just standing behind the car you could totally smell how rich it was burning!! anyway for what its worth, the numbers were 366 rwhp 370 rwtq. still not what i have run in the past (over 380 w/o pred or hi-flo cats), but each time i have dyno'd since, i have not had things set right just prior to dynoing. last time was pulling the 11 fuse and as was proven to me that day, had a 15 hp drop on a srt with similar mods. anyway, anyone who is running the 93 cai tune, leave things as they are, until you have a cmr tune done. i do remember reading somewhere that the fuel increases were more for places without 93 octane gas. seeing as how diablo is in florida, like me, they have access and use 93......
only used two different dynos. conditions very similar as for atmospheric. i think my biggest issue yesterday was the fact i was set way to rich for fuel, and i was running an air cleaner that i use for shows (i was at a car show) that is some crap brand but just looks blingish for the show. erik, i always thought air cleaners can make a big diff. correct me if i am wrong. pig rich and a restrictive air cleaner don't make for good dyno results right??? hehehehe btw - the dyno yesterday is the same as from past 380 runs w/o hi-flo cats and pred....
I think your statement is too broad. I had to add a lot of fuel on the 93 CAI tune. All I have is headers, no cats, and Magnaflow catback. I got 399 RWHP with the added fuel. That put me around 12.8:1 if I recall correctly.
Take it to the track forget the dyno..Come down here for a weekend and get Johan to dial that thing in for you..BTW After Johan farted with my ride I ended up with 404 rwhp..And you know the mods I have..And no this was with out the N20..
matt - my a/f was under 11.5........ scott - oh yes..... i have a couple of things i am working on now, but i will be contacting johan within the next couple of weeks to arrange a day with him and get things tweaked right where i want them. for me, it will be money well spent to go to the source and have them dial it in!!! trust me, my sled does not feel 30 hp slower than before!!! hahahahaha btw - do you have his contact number??? anything i need to know ahead of time???? give me the run down and cost if you could. pm me....
This is a bit strange for me too Chris. With my mods (in my sig) and the 93CAI tune (16a...also running 94 Sunoco) I was running lean at WOT...as high as 13.6:1. We had a wideband hooked to the 02 bung after the high-flow cats. Made more power and torque as we added fuel. 9 dyno pulls that day. We also added fuel in each of the 3 ranges....and I ended up with 406hp and 424bl ft of torque. Put me at 12.6:1....which may be a little bit lower if the wideband was hooked up before the cats.
Chris - I've always been disappointed with the dyno buddy. But have always felt faster in the SOTP. My car pulls harder, has less knock retard, shifts stronger and quicker than ever, and revs higher......yet dynos less HP and TQ???? I don't get it either. I can't wait till I get to the track! I know I'm low 12s or high 11s. Don't stress buddy, you're not the only one!!! Chase
thanks chase..... no worries for me, it must makes me walk away shaking my head at the discrepencies you see from run to run. similar cars, similar conditions, same dyno, but less hp. go figure...... was pretty revealing to see the a/f numbers for mine...... 11.5 and lower..... pretty rich. set things back to "normal" on the pred and will see how things go. definately feels stronger, but that can be so misleading.....placebo effect almost....... did a mod, now i convince myself it is better! hahahahaha
Diablosport used vehicles from Florida to do the beta testing. Florida and a couple other states have an additive in their fuel that makes it richer...which in turn leans it out for the rest of us. That's where the adding 3% across the board came from. I mentioned it to you Chris in a post when you first installed the Pred...guess you were pretty excited and skimmed over it! LOL
i was under the same impression curtis....... below 11.5 is a bit rich for me. i am serious, you could smell it as the car wound up on the dyno!!! hahahaa anyway, i set things back to the "normal" parameters on the pred and i will wait until i get to see johan at diablo in a few weeks!!! nice having them just a couple hours away!!! rop:
Chris...my dyno guy called me last night and asked if I was ready to dyno again...anyways, made me think of something from my last session a few months ago...did you disable ESP with the Predator before your runs? I did....don't know if it made a difference or not.
Ok, so you actually used the ESP thingie on the predator and all your lights on the dash lit up as oppsed to the ESP off with solely the button on your dash. Don't know if this makes a difference or not between the two. I thought I heard that the Daiblo's ESP off thingie which also disabled ABS and stuff was intended really for the dyno.
i switched it off on the dash.... never thought about turning it off with the pred before i got on the dyno????? mmmmm i wonder if it would make a difference?????
12.5-12.8 is where it needs to be. I don't know how an additive could make it run richer. Richer/Leaner is a product of injector pulsewidth and fuel pressure. We had to lean out our Charger. It really depends on the mods you have. Heads, cam, LT's, etc...
