i have the magnaflow catback 3inch exhaust and its just not loud enough for me...i like the drone but i want more roar at wot... could i cut the two resonator at the tips and the one at the middle and replace them with 3inch pipes? i like the tips and the whole exhaust i dont want to buy a new one? also wut are the performance gains?
If you just cut the resonators off i think you might gain a few horsies (maybe 3 or 4) but nothing huge... are you looking to just go straight pipes out from the cats back?...from your description it sounds like you want to do straight pipes...they usually dont sound as good as a good exhaust though...
you could do that. the gains would be negligable. what you can try doing is sell your magnaflows and use that money to get straightpipes and tips that look like the magnaflows and have a little left over.
Try the magnaflow mids with hiflow cats....or remove the cats....either way it will get louder..............

to really get your car to be loud (and still sound good)...you need the whole car to breath right... My personal suggestion is that you cut off the resonators by the tips...keep the mid pipes (or change them for a louder set)...high flow cats...maybe some headers... do you have an intake?...a good intake will increase how loud your car is... so if you do a FULL full exhaust...along with an intake...you will hear a noticeable difference in the dB of your exhaust... another question is...do you care about drone or anything like that...cause if you do a set up like that you'll get a lot of drone probably...which some of us like (like myself)... if you JUST care about getting louder...the quickest thing to do is chop off the two resonators (Leave the mids)...i dont think you'll like the way it sounds with nothing...
i dont have an intake? only the k&N drop in filter....this is only my weekend car...so i dont really care how loud its going to get with out resonates....in..?:guns:
ok so i have decided that im going to remove the suitcase and replace it with an x pipe after that..im going remove the 2 magnaflow mufflers and add 2 single chamber flow master...all 3inch of course...all post the vid when im done...:whistle:
I like 'em loud as well sometimes. Just be careful... not sure about your area, but :busted:catch the wrong LEO at the wrong time and he can ticket you for it being too loud.
And bro a CAI will make it louder too. Don't know if you have one already but if not look into one and take out the stock air box, you'll definitely get more sound (I looooooove the mopar cai).
thats why i ALWAYS let off the gas or get off it completely when im near a cop hahaha...even turn down the tunes as well :thumb2:
