Junk science Well, you guys sucked me in and I went and had a look at the ACES IV web site. What a load. The alleged scientific tests that present any information are so obviously written by a poor quality marketing person that has never actually seen a real lab report. Everything is a rewritten summary and the pdfs of the reports are such poor quality that it is obvious they are "recreated". Having run real test programs with Southwest Research Institute for years, they would not write anything resembling that material (same for the alleged military and university testing). The format is wrong, the style is wrong, presenting marketing opinions is wrong....its just wrong. By the way SAE doesn't "Certify" anything, it develops standards that others can follow in labs to do certification testing (been a member for over 25 years). And the pictures of the facility, looks like any small time commercial bottling contract packager that will put your liquid gold into your bottles, I've been in similar facilites...this outfit probably works out of a store front up in Canada. These products are typically blended with readily availible petrolium solvents or diesel aditives and a amall amount of the "proprietary liquid". If any effect is measured in the fuels, it is just due to the blend stock product, which is usually sold for a fraction of the cost of the snake oil. Finally...looking at some of the mixing rates, there is so little magic product going inito the fuel or gasoline that it could not have any real effect. Lets see some real tests in a certified Ricardo single cylindeer octane test engine. Enough...I'm going back to work turning lead into gold...need any? CRAP!
Ah... but you've missed the fact that every (oil) order is CUSTOM blended. After a careful analysis of your individual engine they custom blend the optimal formulation for your needs. You might need the exceptional lubricity formula when someone else might need the high friction blend with larger molecules. Fortunately, I would guess you're right in that it's just generic product with a couple of drops of this or that to avoid going to jail. It's likely not going to do any serious damage to anything other than wallets... and of course, that feeling you are experiencing right now "I'm never going to get that 20 minutes of my life I just wasted back".
