How excited was I when it was arranged that I coudl finally get the car to the track last night.

HP-F and I arranged that last night was the night, finally I am going to race my car....

Was absolutely excited beyond imagination and could hardly concentrate with work through the day on Friday. By 12pm I was home and getting the car ready. Tyres on, car cleaned and everything not needed out and put in the garage.

My mate arrived at 4pm to tow the car to Calder which saw us arrive at the track around 5:30pm.

Signed and entered and made my way around to scrutineering. With what seemed like ages I finally made it to the scrutineering guy that was to look over my car.

Started with the first lot of checks and like a magnet was drawn straight away to the LH rear wheel......."hey mate, you are missing a wheel nut".... WTF had a quick look and low and behold 1 bloody nut was missing from the car.

Searched everywhere, nothing in the car, nothing in the tow truck and after trying every model of car in the parking lot for almost 90mins trying wheel nuts off their cars, I came to terms with the fact...I WAS NOT GOING TO RACE TONIGHT....

Unbelievable and you can imagine how annoyed and embarressed I was that something like a wheel nut stopped my night dead before it even begun.....NOOOOOOOOOO!

What the hell had happened, how did I miss this. I was adament I checked and rechecked everything, that is until I got home. Sat down in my office and guess what I found sitting beside my bloody computer.... The culprit, the MIA piece the bloody wheel nut. So I went and bought another full set for spares as no other cars have the same nuts as ours.....

I believe what happened is I received a work call, logged back intgo work from my home office, sorted out a few things that needed attention and went back out finish the fitting of the drag wheels/tyres. And simply forgot to check what I started (yes I was excited), and washed the car.

Kicking myself I tell you what as I have been waiting for this chance for so long. Grrrrrrr.

But the good news is that its on again on Saturday 16th April and the tow truck is already booked. Except for bad weather I will be there (and yes the weather last night was perfect, better than you can imagine and ideal for racing).

Anyway I guess I have learnt a valuable lesson from this and it is to check and finish everything before going on with something else. I feel like an idiot for sure and I just hope this embarressing story helps anyone else from making a silly mistake like me.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :)

I think you don't really want to know what it can do. After all your hard work and money you don't want to be disappointed with your time so you are purposely sabotaging yourself. What's next, a hang nail? LOL!

You need to come race in the US your lucky if they even have you pop the hood at some tracks let alone see a missing lug nut, so it looks like this time the lug nut screwed you instead of you screwing it LOL!!
