Okay, I think I just got my most "huh, what?" present ever. Given this is from the uncle who got my mom a subscription to Mother Jones this year because she was into it um, THIRTY years ago. Anyway, those that know me and my aversion to certain kinds of things should get a giggle. Please feel free to post up stuff you get this season or just the odd stuff from years past. Every holiday season is like another round of Monty Python / Redneck Comedy tour for me.
I own 0 long sleeve shirts, 0 Sweat Shirts, and 0 Sweaters. Forever, my extended family (who never ever saw me wear any of said items) would continue to buy me said long sleeve/sweat/sweaters. Not obscure but amusing that they neeeever really get the hint lol.
Yeah, I'd have aunts who I swear hated me. They always got me orange or puce or bronze colored night gowns/sleep shirts. Just gaudy ugly stuff. Then my one uncle who started sending me SUGAR FREE Junior's Cheesecake after he found he's diabetic. I do love my family...and at least they try...but gah.
Hahaha, It's got those little platforms on it. So when you find a big hill you can put your feet on the back pegs and hunker down over the handle bars.
I got Maximilian (my sevenyearold) Need for Speed "Shift" for this year, can´t wait for him to open it though... LOL We´ll see who spends the most hours! Fredrik:stars:
Oh and I'm getting Marc this: He's getting me some sort of surprise, I guess after I mentioned Mom getting me a 1st edition copy of Mark Twain's Autobiography Vol 1, he didn't want to be outdone or something.
Sorry...I don't believe in this holiday, it's become too commericalized. I buy things as I need/want them.
Believing in the holiday itself is a religous thing. For the presents and commercialization, some people like to give presents to other people and this gives them a convenient opportunity. When I give presents to myself I don't wait for Xmas either.
Well, if holidays are based upon gift-giving opportunities, I have a quarterly Cupcake holiday, a once a decade Car holiday, a weekly tater tot holiday, etc. If you don't want to celebrate that's up to you. Personally I'd rather something akin to the Christmas spirit be alive all year, instead of the bitter anti-social stick that so many people seem to have wedged firmly up their rear-end. Ya know, being civil, polite even maybe NICE or considerate of others would be nice. Unfortunately there is that segment that uses the Holiday season as an excuse to turn inward and only see the negative and shut out all the happy stuff. I used to do that too. :getlost: Maybe I'm getting old, maybe its all the things I've lost or had taken away that makes me appreciate what I have, maybe its my daughter who's just discovering the world, but yeah I got a big ol' batch of Christmas spirit. :dance4: So grump away. :bye:
This is a thread about Christmas Presents. For many Christians, Christmas gifts are a source of joy and fun. Santa Claus has been part of our lives since a very young age. We've raised our kids with a understanding of the difference of the religious holiday and the gift giving, and Santa Claus when they finally figured it out. My wife Cindy has always loved Christmas and everything about it. We will have our children, 40 and 34, their spouses, and 5 of our 6 grandchildren, 18 to 3, at our house on Christmas. Can't wait to see Cole tear into his gifts, he's three. Yes we still buy all of them gifts, and yes it can be traumatic shopping if your let it. We will have a prayer before we eat, thanking Jesus for his sacrifice. So if Tamara is looking forward to Christmas and what's she's getting for Maddy, I'm happy for her. She still has the magic of Santa Claus and a holiday season that is special for her, and probably brings back memories of her own. Reality isn't for a 3 year old. Christmas can take away some of our negative reality for a little while. We all get enough reality the rest of the year and in our lifetime. So please don't thread crap on someones Christmas reality if it differs from your point of view. Tamara is very special to us and so are the exploits of Maddy. Merry Christmas
Eh if you feel that way fine, make a Christmas sucks thread and stay out of mine. Unless it's your mission to crap all over my perspective in which case yeah how to make friends. So to sum up, whatever.
