So - I have an old set of steel ramps that I just can't get the 300 SRT8 on to. I have read the tips on using a twelve foot 2"x12" cut into 5 foot, 4, foot, and 3 foot pieces stacked up to make gradual steps leading to any ramp... but I'd like something simpler and more compact. Been looking around for a new set of ramps and I just don't know what will work... Like these give the angle and claim they are good for low vehicles, but who knows... http://xtc.tc/2fxvk So, the question is: does anyone have a ramp recommendation? Thanks!
Those wont work, I have them, they are too narrow and not a gradual enough slope. You are gonna have to do something to lessen the angle. Also, when doing that, be careful as once you hit the ram its gonna want to slide out from under the wheels. So try and brace it. I am sure there are ramps out there that can do it, just havent seen em.
I thought those were the ones I have? I got mine at Autozone. They had the dark ones and the lighter gray ones. I think the lighter gray ones were the heavier duty ones? I'll look at them when I get home tonight. I'm not lowered and the underside of the front cowl will just touch when driving up on them (lol, I usually jack the car up a bit, then down and remove the jack and the car doesn't settle all the way back down and it doesn't touch at all). They got rubber inserts in the bottom of them and I've never had mine slide... but I don't take a running start at them either. I think they're just about exactly as wide as the stock tires. There isn't any extra there.
I've always used a 2 x 10 in front of my ramps; works great; had 'em up on there plenty of times with no problems.
I am not lowered either but I cant even come close to getting up on them. Front tire isnt even on the ramp yet when my splitter hits it. May be that the magnum has a little better nose clearance than the charger? Mine only slip when I put wood in front to get up on the ramps (which i dont do, I usually just jack it up and put it on stands). My 275's hung off the sides which goes with your "Isnt any extra" with OEM tires. Those look badass!
Those race ramps do look nice... but I guess they better for the $$!! I have been using jack stands to do oil changes and what not, and it is getting old. I could probably cut half the time out of the job if I wasn't messing with the jacks and what not... Might have to cut some wood, I guess. Thanks for all the replies!
That is the low cost way to do it. I guess you need to guess how long of a 2" x 10"? You use the 2" x 10" on the font of the ramp to decrease the slope. You just move the 2" x 10" up on the ramp to give it a "start slope". You can make it real nice and cut an angle on each end of the 2" x 10" to make it easier to get on the 2x10 and to get back onto the ramp form the 2" x10".

Wish I had that problem. lol I have a lowered GT Cruiser, ramps would be sweet, and if I could afford an SRT I'd probably dish out the cash for a nice set of ramps... but anyhoo, I digress. ^_^ I was just thinkin' in stead of buying and cutting a lot of wood, you could get the 2x10, cut whatever length, but make a T out of it, instead of stacking a ramp. With making a T, you can make whatever angle you need (by putting another block of wood under the ramp piece), and it's the same board all the way up. I'm not sure what the load specs are of a 2x10, but for a simple 2x4 they're pretty beefy, so I bet the 2x10 would hold the load just fine. If not, you could put a small support under half way up. Just a thought. Hope it helps... plus you could paint 'em black... might help a bit. lol

I have the same exact Raceramps and bought them in 2007. The investment is worth every penny. Why pay anyone to change your oil when you can do it yourself and complete a full undercarriage check in the mean time. Mine are the 56" and the ramps-plus shipping was like $225.
