Hello there gents, and several ladies.

Mr Ron (1bad4dr) helped me do my first brake change.. well, he did the work while making me watch so I can see how fast it is to change brembo brakes, thanks bud!.. Anyways, we changed them with Satisfied Pro pads front and rear from the OE pads. The rotors are OE from when I purchased the car back in December 28, 2007. They've never been turned or anything.

I know I need to change them.. But I want to see what you guys make of this. There is like a divot line that is going around the outside edge of the rotor (see pictures), and IDK why. We noticed that the pad's on the rear had uneven wear, but it could have been from ESP, or some other factors.

Warranty is up here next month, and I want to get any warranty work done before it's up.. so if this means new calipers or whatever, I'll get it done (hopefully). I haven't seen what the pads look like now, but I don't do a lot of high speed stops so I don't think they are down too far yet to where I have to change them.

Thanks for looking and the help!

Note: Pictured above is the front passenger side. I notice the same thing happening on the driver front side as well, I don't think this is happening on the rear, haven't checked to be 100%.

Its hard to see the depth of that groove, but its not unusual to get a ridge on the outside of the rotor. How many miles are on them?

most disc brake rotors that have any significant mileage on them will have a slightly raised surface at the outer portion of the rotor... this is normal.

If this is the symptom you are noting, than this in all likelihood this will be a wear issue and probably not covered by warranty.

I have had my rotors turned once, but you need a good machine shop to do this. On my second brake change the rotors needed to be replaced.

    Hope this helps..

    Hey there guys.

Rotors are original to the vehicle when I purchased it brand new. A little over 24k miles are on them, and these are the 2nd set of pads. First were OE, these are Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads.

And when I mean "divot", it means a grove, not a raised part. As if something has been grinding them down in that specific spot..

    Disclaimer: I have no clue.

But... I'm willing to speculate! :) The original setup on the 2005 - 2006 SRT8's had solid rotors. They had a problem with premature grooving (usually more than just one groove). The problem was that the leading edge of the pads did not evacuate the brake dust properly. So you get a larger particle under there and it starts a groove and then that keeps more (abrasive) dust in that spot and you get a full blown groove there. Sort of builds on itself once it starts. Then they went to slotted rotors as the solution. Everything 2007 and later came with slotted rotors.

So... what I would guess is that you got something on or under the pad at that point that started a groove and it got worse. I would not suspect anything mechanically wrong/defective with the rotor or brake system itself that caused the problem. If it's a significant groove they probably wouldn't have been able to get it out completely by turning them. The fix now would be to replace the rotors and the pads. You could try but I seriously doubt they would do it under warranty and it would fall under normal wear. What to do? Just keep an eye on it occassionally. I would expect the rotor and pads to wear just a bit faster than they would without the existing condition. I would not expect it to effect your breaking performance.

This seems to be the problem I had with my 06 Mag SRT! Had the first set of Brembo pads replaced under warranty at 7,100 miles. (The dealer told ME that some of the very first SRT's had defective pads and replaced mine)
Then at 8,000 miles my rotors were shot ~ Argued with them for quite some time ~ FINALLY, they replaced the stock rotors with NEW 2010 model slotted rotors and again NEW pads.
I've Had NO problems since and my car NOW has 10,500 miles!
