Well, as fall is here and winter not far away I decided to take a friend to the final of the Swedish Touring Car Championship and Pro Superbike.
Its abot 110 miles to the track and I thought it might be a nice seasonfinal for the Maggie.
We took of at about 10 and made some pretty good progress, she is nicely planted and everything works as a charm, highway all the way and speeds were, lets call it noticiable...
Anyway, after about 70 miles we passed a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, the 500 hp version with three guys in what looked like in their late twenties.
When I passed he immediately changed lanes and started following suite.
I got held up in slower traffic and when it cleared he was right behind me making things clear.
    Hammer down!
We were doing about 65 and I was slowly breaking away, took her up to about 140 then lifted of due to upcoming traffic, the Porschedriver looked slightly surprised as he crept up behind me again, probably thinking he lost the rolling takeoff.
Clear road ahead again and here we go again, same result, slowly inching away...
Another two pulls and I figured I´d let him lead, let him pass and there were three VERY surprised looking guys in that Porsche!
Put myself in position behind him slightly to the left so I had a clear view in front of him, the Cayenne is a BIG car.
When he got a clear road in front of him he floored it, I waited until I saw the Cayenne squat and blowing a slight puff of smoke through all four tailpipes, then I let the hammer down.
Had to lift of as I caught up rather quick tailgating him, he kept it down but moved over to the right lane and I could pass him although he was still at it!
Great feeling and the car handles perfect for these excursions.
Getting closer to the track I started to lift of with less than a mile to the exit there were a Police motorcycle going in the opposite direction, I was doing like 110 but slowing down, he gave me the "evil eye" but I figured that -Hey, youre going the wrong way. I know I dont have my licensplate up front but comon...
Cruising down the exit I saw him flying up behind me, pulling me over and told me I was going to get a ticket for not having the front licenseplate.
When he ran the car in the computer he discoverd that I had missed my inspection by two days and that was a 200 dollar fine.
I just smiled and kept my mouth shut thinking that it was quite cheap considering what I would have recived if he had seen me pulling with that Porsche...
Taking it easy on the way home and just enjoying the tranquillity and stabilty along with knowing I have the power to outpreform pretty much anyone!

One thing came up though, she goes from fourth to fifth at about 170 - 175, don´t have time to look to carfully, and then something happens, its not a sharp missfire, more like a pulsing.
She won´t go over 180 - 185 and she should, plenty of power but maybe she doesn´t get enough air?
I use the airfilter for the Charger and thats situated just behind the headlight and there is no actual air inlet, maybe taking out that plastic strip between the radiator and headlight will sort the problem, I REALLY want to see it pass 190 or 300 km/h...
The Maggie is now stowed away in the garage and won´t be out until may, service and detailing will be what happens this winter!

PS. This, if it at all happend, took place in a foregin country far, far away...

Nice story... I just about lost it until I realized you were talking km/h. I'd have that pulsing checked out though. In my Charger its like the batting of an eyelash to go from 80 mph to 100 mph and up. Hell, 155ish felt pretty darn natural.

Oh, I have a 155 warning in my car, the sunroof "opens" or starts making windnoices above 155, but so does a Beemer...
Other than that all is well, and Tam, no, even I don´t want to go 300 mph...:baby:
200 is a completly different story, think I might need a bit more power though!

And the speeds are in mph unless others are told, just to keep it real for you guys and the speedo reads in mph anyway.

    170mph in 4th = 6022rpm
    175mph in 4th = 6200rpm
    180mph in 4th = 6376rpm
    180mph in 5th = 5292rpm
    185mph in 5th = 5439rpm

Ah yeah, then that's the Engine-nanny saying "Nuh-uh!" Wow... my "fast" experience was back before a friend decided to hit an irrigation ditch in his 300 SRT doing like 130 or so. I've slowed down considerably since. That will probably change when I get back to the track on a regular basis. :)

Hahahahaha!!!! ^_^ I love stories like that! Thanks for sharing. It is nice to know that you can beat pretty much anyone who wants to try.
And yes, I'd definitely say that's the PCM cutting fuel, or messing with the timing on purpose to prevent the engine from making more power, so you can't go faster. The PT's came in at 123mph, replacing the PCM with the mopar Stage 1 took that away. Maybe you could look into one for yours. They're really cheap for what you get. Thanks again!

Its not the REVlimiter, Quick probably knows but hitting the revlimiter in fifth would be darn fast, I´d lift off before I´d hit it...
Its in fifth and at 180 - 185, I think it runs out of air, come may I´lll have the answer!

I doubt that it's running out of air. Nothing much different about being in 4th (or any other gear) at that rpm. Engine really doesn't know what gear the car is in. As far as speed goes, your air intake should only get better. There should be some ram air effect?

On the other hand, maybe there could be something going on with aerodynamics. I suppose if the air intake was in the right place such that, at speed, the car aerodynamics could be building up a "bubble" right there where the intake ends up in a low pressure area... something like that?

All that should be evident on your gauges right? Boost and Air/Fuel.
You may well be hitting peak load on the engine at that time (more than accelerating WOT through the lower gears). Plug blow out?

How do you know that you might not be losing traction right about that speed? There is some serious traction required to push through the air resistance at that speed. If you're not getting any aerodynamic downforce on the rear the tires might be slipping?

Sorry for being late, but I´m thinking either aerodynamics, that the air behind the headlight gets to thin OR there is a SPEEDlimiter.
    Does anyone know?
I have the Vortech standard tune, and ashamed to say, I haven´t got the guages in yet... Winter thing to do, they behaved strangely when I mounted them so I´ll have to look at the wireing.
It feels like when driving my dads old SL 55 AMG and hitting the speedlimiter.
