2006 SRT8 Charger - Installed the per CAI 93 octane tune - went well. Went to Modify Stock tunes - did the temp changes - rev limiter in drive 6600k raised shift points - proceeded to install tune now - erroe message read - ERROR VALIDATING FILE - wHAT im I doing wrong? Is Per 93 CAI tune different from Modify STOCK tunes? Help me !!!!
Ummm, not sure here what you did. It sounds like you installed the Performance CAI 93 Octane tune OK? You should be able to go to Performance Tunes Select the CAI 93 Octane tune Then you have an option to install or "modify parameters" Select that and make your changes. When you back all the way out of the "modify parameters" you can install the tune with your changes. In the performance tune area all the way at the bottom (unless they moved it somewhere else) there is an option to "modify stock tune". That would be to modify parameters for your stock tune. Same as modifying parameters for the other performance tunes. Is that what you wanted to do? Modify parameters on your stock tune? Or did you want to change parameters on the CAI 93 octane tune? In any event, I think the modify stock tune should have worked anyway.
The 93 cai tune wentr well - Now I want to adjust the temps. I guess I was clicking Modify Stock tunes - I should of clicked on mofify paramaters?
Yes. Here is how it works. You select a tune file to work with. Any tune file. Even the "modify stock tune" which is what the predator backed up from the car the first time. On the predator it comes with the "canned" tune files in the Performance Tune section. If you loaded a custom tune file onto it from your PC then another section would appear for Custom Tunes. When you first try to load a tune file to the car the predator will marry itself to the car and retrieve a copy of the stock tune off the car. That will be saved as your Original Backup *and* it will put another copy of it somewhere so you can "Modify Stock Tune". So once you select some tune file you then have the option to Modify Parameters (for the selected tune) before loading it to the car or just load it to the car as is. If you go to modify parameters it will create (internally) a change list of whatever you changed. Then when you go to load the selected tune to the car it will make a copy, apply the changes from the change list to the copy and load that to the car. Important to note that tune files saved on/in the predator are never changed. Changes are only applied to the copy being loaded to the car or being uploaded to your pc. There is only 1 change list kept on the predator. Whenever the predator asks you if you want to "reset parameters" or you select Reset Parameters it is referring to the (single) change list. It is not talking about resetting parameters in the tune file itself. If you select a different tune file than the one selected last time it will ask you if you want to reset parameters. You may or may not want to. For example I have all the canned tunes and I have a couple of custom tunes on the predator. The only "Modify Parameters" I have are to change the fan settings for my 185* t-stat and select raised shift points. These changes are ones I want applied to any of my tune files, so when I select a different tune file to load I do not do "Reset Parameters" or I answer "no" when prompted. Note: In the above example the fan settings and raised shift points are "absolute" values. Like I have the LS fan set to 190* and raised shift point is selected. Those are different than "relative" values like adding 5% fuel. When you add 5% fuel it adds 5% more to whatever value it read out of the tune file. Let's say you have one custom tune that's lean and another custom tune 25% richer. You might want to tweak the lean tune and add 5% to that. If you switched to the rich tune you would probably want to reset parameters in that case because otherwise you would be adding 5% more on top of the 25% already in the tune. You don't have to reset parameters first to change them though. You can select a different tune file and then go into Modify Parameters and just change the ones you want. So, in the example above, let's say I selected the lean tune, changed all those fan settings, raised shift points, and added 5% fuel. Later I selected the rich tune. I could say "no" to reset all parameters, go into Modify Parameters, change only the add 5% fuel to add 0% fuel and all my fan settings and raised shift points would still be there. (I still don't think it should have given you an error when you tried modify stock tune...)
what is the r23 and r8? I am getting the same error when I try modifying the fan settings. I can't load the tune after I make the changes.
Those would be versions of the Predator CROM (software/firmware versions of the image the Predator itself runs)
923 didn't let me do anything in the Modify parameters - error vlidaing file ... After couple of weeks of DS asking me the same question - whats the version whats the calid - working on it -- unbelievable! I decided to try 9R12 version and it worked! DS acted I was the first with this problem but if you scan their forum theirs a lot - I try to give others a quick remedy to at least enjoy the pred until DS figures out the glicth. !
