Well Dookie, thanks for clearing the brain fog for me. Certainly makes sense then. For some reason I thought this was a tturboed car. As epic as its been I should have known that. They're going to maybe do a bigger blower on it then? Too many big builds going on to keep track. :stars: Definitely looking to see how this progresses.
lol We ALL have that stupid Brain Fog moment every now and then. No worries. Yes, Jim is upgrading to a 3.4(?) I believe?
Talked with Mike at Mr. Norms this morning. Looks like we will be able to make CamaroFest with my car sporting the new 3.6L liquid cooled KB unit. Will not have the methanol/water set-up ready yet but at least I'll meet some forum members Friday night!! I'm excited. We had issues with the axles as BMC did not even install these properly. Builder Bill is making new ones and that should be done in time. BMC was so incompetent that only a fool would let them touch their car (sorry Lisa but you guys screwed me big time!). We basically had to undo all their mistakes and start fresh. What a waste of money. But I'm sure excited my car is close to being ready to drive if not down the track. !5 months is a Loooong time to wait for a car to be complete, but I could not be in better hands than Mr. Norms!!! I know the group and Mr. Norms has worked hard to make CamaroFest and I thank them all.
this post has WIN written all over it .. I'm glad to hear your back on track Jim!!! Is that the new guage set-up that you can see in the video?? If so, its so much better then the dogshit display BMC came up with ... nice work to you and Mr. Norms
Thanks - yes this new set-up was done by Mr. Norms. Should be on the dyno this friday with the new 3.6L KB unit. FYI I just bought a 55 gallon drum 100% methanol for $ 143.00 and 55 gallons of distilled water for $ 41.25. That makes 110 gallons of meth/water 50/50 mix for around $ 1.80 per gallon. Caution: MUST be stored in plastic drums - not steel.
I spent today at Mr. Norms rained all morning then sunshine. Here is a video of a pull with the 2.8L KB. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/...Challenger/?action=view¤t=28LKBPULL.flv Here is Todd returning back into the shop after making 100 rwhp more than the whipple. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/...6 Challenger/?action=view¤t=28LDONE.flv Here are the Mr. Norms crew working to remove the 2.8L KB blower. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/...Challenger/?action=view¤t=THRASHING.flv And finally the new 3.6L liquid cooled KB going on. http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/...hallenger/?action=view¤t=36LGOINGON.flv With post more good news soon.
The videos don't work for me. Thanks for sharing. We're all looking forward to your updates. Can't wait for the 3.6 dyno and track numbers.
Thanks for fixing this. Good news today!! We finished the tests of the 2.9L whipple, the 2.8L KB and the new 3.6L KB liquid cooled. Here are the results; Whipple 630 rwhp 650 tq 2.8L KB 735 rwhp 652tq 3.6L KB 843rwhp 808 tq (with 50/50 water methanol spray) Here is the dyno chart of all three together. And a few other videos and pictures as well http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/...hallenger/?action=view¤t=36Lstartup.flv http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/... Challenger/?action=view¤t=dynopull.flv http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/...Challenger/?action=view¤t=KBcloseup.flv http://s956.photobucket.com/albums/...hallenger/?action=view¤t=toddstalls.flv After the CamaroFest next weekend we have more plans. We were limited at 843 rwhp by a 2 bar map sensor. Will also be making some cosmetic changes to make this a true Mr. Norms car!!
Thank you. I had a dream and all the hard work from the crew at Mr. Norms made it come true. And the dream keeps getting better as we go along. Life is good but also hard work!!!
wow...... nice initial numbers from the 3.6!!!! can't wait to see what the final product comes out to be jim!!! btw - when do you think you might have things buttoned up and ready to take home???
Chris - Tim is doing partial throttle tuning tomorrow. Todd (from Mr. Norms) is going to do some miles next week and then towing to the CamaroFest next weekend for show only. After than it's into my garage forsome fun miles then back to Mr. Norms for even more work. There are some killer plans for this project still to happen that will be posted later. Just time for some R&R after getting past 800 rwhp. Some paint plans, more boost, nitrous cooling for the track, wider rear street tires, ect.
Great numbers. Glad to so S.A.E. Smoothing 5 numbers. Most accurate. Pet peeve of mine if you don't. lol
It is 9:30 AM Sunday morning and I just got a call from Mike at Mr. Norms. Today Tim plans to do some street partial throttle work on the car. Since it was on the dyno and gsochallenger seemed so in question about equality of the testing we did Tim added some timing to take advantage of the methanol/water spray. We still have the 15 psi limit due to using a 2 bar map sensor so only the timing was changed. New numbers are 880RWHP and 849 RWTQ. And when we put more boost to this monster more power is sure to follow. Nice work Tim!!!:magic::thanks: Rubbel's Insane 426 has come to life!!!
Just heard from Tim who is Mr. Norm's tuner. Hey Jim! I added 3* of timing and leaned it out from 11.0 to 11.6A/F. The gains were very nice. I honestly could have taken it as high as 24* since the meth is equal to c-16 but I'm leaving to catch a plane in a few hours and wanted to get the street tuning done. total timing is 20* right now. When we have some more time we can play around with timing and the meth it should easily hit 910-920rwhp with the meth and 15psi. You gain 10-12rwhp per * of timing. I have tuned alot of meth cars and know exactly what we need to do with your car. 17-18 psi will easily see 1000rwhp. I'm so happy for you. Andy built a GREAT engine for you and the KB 3.6lc is showing its true colors. I just drove the car, it drives very nice and your pedal is just like stock until you mat it to the floor. The car is stupid fast under wot. I'm going to drive it around for a few hours and fine tune everything for you. See ya when I return to Florida! Tim And here is the dynochart from Mr. Norms:
