Over the last year I have been trying to build the fastest 5.7 based 392......to add to the task I am determined to do it at full weight.Well Bill has helped me out with some nice parts here and there and I have been able to squirrel enough away with installs and selling parts that I was able to bullet proof the entire driveline with Bills parts. I have been running a Paramount full race trans since July 09' and have over 200 passes on it as well as almost 30k miles. The shifts are still as crisp as the day it was installed. The converter was changed to a billet 4k stall and with the new cam I got my 60's back into the low 1.60 range......still working on the 1.5's but it's not that easy at 4600+ lbs. Well a month or so ago Bill did it again with an offer I could not refuse and this past week I installed a Paramount 8.8 rear with 3.73 gears,Bills axles a chrome moly driveshaft and a CTP driveshaft loop. I am really excited to get this new combo to the track! The response is amazing now that the rubber couplers are gone from the drive shaft and ....this still amazes me......the whole car is smoother.I guess I will report back after the March 19th track rental.
He's gonna let me practice installing his gears in the Double Tree parking lot. Hey, I gotta learn somehow, right??:miner:
LOLOL. This cracked me up so much! Erik, have you got any pics of the driveshaft...especially the ends? No rubber?
Damn, seriously jealous man. That's a recipe for some LOW LOW 60's, and with your MPH, i see some low 11's at full weight. You could get Wendy to drive it for you and gain a tenth or two.
I will get some tonight....Putting it back in the air to go over all the bolts now that I beat the crap out of it.
Nice! I hope you saved a bit for car care products. It's going to take a lot more now that you're going to be polishing the bottom of your car too.
you know..... i tried to convince him to let me pull the motor from his car in the parking lot of the holiday inn when we were in bradenton...... for some reason he hesitated??? :shifty:
So after the first highway run this morning it cruises 70mph at 2750rpm and gets 19.3 mpg average.Don't think I'll be cruising much faster than 70 till I put the taller tires out back and get the revs back down.
Wow...big difference. Like me driving in 4th gear at 70 mph. How does it feel out the hole though. Need a neck brace?
I'll let you know after the track.........can't get traction in 1st,2nd or most of third on the street.
