I have a few question if you can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I love to race so the faster the better. 1. Should i build a 426 or build a nitrous motor? 2. If i had the stock throttle body ported to 90 mm would it really create a big increase in HP/TQ 3. Should I port the stock heads and intake purchase new components.
Whoa...heck of a first post. :welcome: to the C! What're you driving and do you have pictures? As for the questions, I'm sure one of the resident experts will be with you shortly!
1. both. 2. i would not bore a stock tb to 90mm. go by one and have the intake machined to match. 3. most vendors of ported heads have an exchange program.
I agree with Ralph (Mol). If you're serious about your intentions, stroker, heads, cam, manifold, TB, spray, tranny, half shafts, LSD...bada bing, mid 10's!
or forged 6.1 with blower at 10+ lbs with a little 100 shot for the track...... waalaa.... deep in the tens with spray, deep in the 11's without...... matter of fact, i think i know someone with this in mind.....just sayin......
If you're building a motor, why not go bigger and build for larger cubes. Price difference is negligible, and there's no replacement for displacement. Then you could leave the giggle gas off and see 10's.
Far as vendor goes who has the best product when it come to a stoker i have seen several kits on the web everything from Arrington k-1 kit, Inertia, Mancini now has a kit, Comp, Indy. I have the engine current out and looking to make the best purchase for the most power. Any Comments
What's you plan? Short block, long block, stroker kit and build your own? I went with Callies Compstar Speed Pack kit (http://www.compstarcomponents.com/speed_packs.htm) crank and rods with Mahle pistons, 4.090 bore x 4.050 stroke. Inertia heads, custom cam, and ported manifold. Good vendors in no particular order are: Callies Performance Werks Racing Inertia Southern Hot Rod HHP BMC Speed Factory Stack Performance Indy Arrington (Shop Hemi.com) Get with one or all and get quotes and see who fits with you and your personal goals the best.
i'm going to try to build the engine myself is there anything special i need to know i have heard that when stroking a 6.1 hemi i have to watch the cylinder bore because the walls are very thin.
BS...max bore is 4.09. You'll have to clearance the widage tray and the oil valley up front..nothing special past that
catches the blow bye that ends up in the plenum. Catch can is a great addition. Oh and since I never saw this thread (sorry), welcome to the "C". You can also check out CMW for your motor needs.
