Hey guys, do you remember when i told you about my engine when i installed the arrington camshaft 607 and since that time its not working good ??

well, here is some pictures for the engine after i opened and tell me what do you think of that ?

the damages was all pistons from exhuast valves and some pistons broken from the top.

Nice.......The broken ringlands believe it or not are probably not from the cam but pre existing damage. As far as sending all the exhaust valves into the pistons, as much as one does not want to hear ,it that is installer error.Better send the heads out because I am sure all the exhaust valves are bent.

^^^x2, why put such a high lift cam in with no valve reliefs (stock pistons)? Was P to V checked when installed?

who told if the installing error it would be exhuast valves error? it would be the intake check it out man and make sure. and for the high lift cam my engine are really stock bottom but with phase 4 ppp heads ready for 645 lift not 607!!! these heads are working with 6.1 or 6.4 or 7.0 and 7.2L so dont tell me your not teady for high lift unless these heads are sold by mistake for people!

Don't get angry. We are trying to help you, whether the news is good, bad, or indifferent.

Your issues are not from the Cam.

How many ring lands were toast?

You may need to look at tuning or installation as the root cause for the failure. It is unfortunate, but this is what the cause appears to be?

Your heads and valve train may be able to handle that much lift, but your pistons are not. A piston to valve clearance check should have been done while installing a cam with that much lift. If it was done, you would have found the problem before failure. As far as the broken pistons, i agree with Erik and Ron, likely failed prior to the cam install from improper tuning. You ran to high EGT's from detonation, the gaps closed on the rings and popped the ring land.

Well since you asked No ONe had to tell me!You can see in the pictures YOU posted the valves smacked the pistons because no one bothered to check for piston to valve interference. And since the valves made really nice contact they will be guaranteed to be bent. The ringlands are broken from detonation and nothing else. You see how shiny the divots from the valves are and how dirty the ringlands are ....that shows that the ringlands have been damaged for a while now.And I don't care whose heads you have they have nothing to do with smacking the valves into the pistons.....not checking for clearance before starting the motor has everything to do with it no matter if the heads are set up for .600 lift or .900 lift. The piston and the valve can not occupy the same space at the same time.

ok the installing was so good and checked many times before starting the engine (timing chain reset) so i guess its not from the installing. and if the cam not match the stock bottom why when i asked tim from arrington if this cam will fit or not he said yeah for sure go ahead !!!!!!!!!!!
and sorry guys i'm not mad at you , i'm just upset from the arrington it self they should tell people if there cams fit or not am i right?

So when you or whomever installed it, they did a proper piston to valve clearance check and had adequate and proper clearance amount?

If so, the only thing i can think of that caused this is really really REALLY high EGT's (exhaust gas temperature) from detonation from improper tuning. That caused the top ring to close up and pop the ring land, and exhaust valve to thermally expand so much they were smacking the piston. Was your knock sensors turned off? What AFR were you getting? How much timing were you running? What was your calculated EGT's? What exhaust are you running? What octane fuel? Any intake manifold modification?

Don't be angry at Arrington, be angry at your tuner, that is just a fact.

no....the PTV was not checked properly.I don't care how many times the OP says it was. Those divots are very deep......even if the valve did expand it would have had to by .030+ to make divots that deep. The cam was installed retarded.....even if the grind was off it wasn't checked properly to catch it.

Is Arrington responsible for a bad grind? Probably
Is Arrington responsible for the motor? Not a chance!!!!

If the install was done properly that would have been caught before the front cover went back on.

And another thing......as much PTV contact as there was you would have felt that just rolling the motor over by hand.....so whoever put the cam in forced that motor over!!!

So... as far as we know the lands only go with excessive chamber temps? and that would be independent of the divot problem right? Bad cam install and bad tune? 2 separate problems?

The knock sensor was ON, the AFR was too rich even the fuel system was less than the stock with 30%. and my exhuast is borla, the octane is 93 and yes ported intake manifold.
    The tuner was RDP motorsport.

And guys whatever we talk here it happened :( ... and i fixed the engine and i'll run it today :)
