Since I change my mind every 3 minutes or so...does anyone have any insight on switching from stock SRT8 rear gears to 3.23 gears? I am going to buy a Wavetrac and have it installed on my way to SF5 at SVS.

I am wondering how the difference felt, goods & bads. RPM at 80 mph?

    Thanks!

Honestly, I dont think you'll feel much of a SOTP difference. I've driven many Mustangs that went from 3.55s to 3.73s or from 3.73s to 3.90s....felt EXACTLY the same to me. In my mustang, I went from 2.73s to 4.56s....THAT was a difference LOL. Go with 3.73s or 3.92s if you like the strip (and have tires to back it up IMO).

That is the kind of input I was looking for.

I still want to be able to seriously drive 1000 miles at a stretch in the car. I have taken 3 major trips in this Charger...all over 1200 miles in one sitting...I don't even remember driving across Nebraska one time lol

    Has anyone done this swap?

Quick sent me an Excel spreadsheet that I "had" saved here on my work laptop. Work scrubbed it a few months ago prior to deploying....damn it!!

It had the gear ratios and the speeds/rpms of the associated gears. Maybe he will chime in here shortly and send it to me again....hint, hint!! LOL. Or just take a screen shot of the two you are curious about.

I was thinking about upgrading to the 3.55's when I get a Wavetrac. I guess I'll just have to slow it down a bit for long trips. The things we do for speed!! LMAO

That is a definet ET picker upper. Sorry but I disagree with the other post. All the faster LX guys back east are running 3.73 and 4:10's.

My Jeep is back east right now having Eaton Tru-Tracs and 4:10's installed. It will be going head to head with some other 426 Jeeps tomorrow at Fayetteville.

Do the gears but go at least 3:55 or 3:73.

Lol Steve...you mean that garage queen? ;) All that does is get you a good talking to by the local PD.

How can I drive across I-80 at 3300 RPM? I was trying to be at least reasonable...I just figured staying close to stock would be best...

Deal. I'll try to be a better look-out at intersections too in case the Heat is around...lol

LOL. $$$$$$$! I made across Nevada in the dark rather quickly recently...I couldn't get my cruise control to work above 130 or so, so I did, ummmm, 129ish :) Funny thing was I got a ticket on my way back TRYING to be more reasonable:

Jon I drove a local Charger with the 426 stroker and 3.23s.....of course the car was quick but the engine was built.....dont know how much the gears contributed to quickness but I do know they didnt hurt drivabilty and high speed road driving...

Thanks Larry. I have been leaning that way anyway. I think I'll just get the thing coming and quit worrying about it.

    Quit bossing me tool.

You have like 98 vehicles to drive...if I listened to you I would be in 4th gear before I hit the end of my driveway :smart:

Lol Steve...I'll have to do 55mph just to get home from CA and get 10+ mpg!

Talked with Jeff and Josh today at HHP. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse, NO JOKE! Prebuilt rear differential with a Wavetrac/3.23 gears on it's way to SVS to I can have it installed on my way to Spring Festival 5.

Thanks to BMC also...they are a little tight on time with Lisa's little one on the doorstep but they gave me an option anyway.

googled that phrase - 3.xx to 3.xx gains, and a lot of stuff on mustang forums comes up. Some spreadsheets. etc. Informative. Looked at it some.

Excellent idea. As much as I harp on my daughter to use Google you would have thought I would have done that...lol.

    Thank you!

Jon, can you PM me if your not comfortable posting a "ballpark" price including install? I want to have some bargaining power with the wife as she just spent 3k on a refrigerator.
