I used to run a 180 and never threw a code. The 170 I run now threw a code every 2 days...... last time I had to get a tune Johan said he would just turn it off.

I don't think you need a CMR but maybe ask a vendor what involved in emailing you a canned tune like whats on the predetor but with that feature turned off.......

You can't just do that. You have no emissions testing in Florida so you can get away with it.....in the NE we actually have to pass emissions and work with that when we modify our cars.Makes it a little more difficult.

How would turning off the Thermo alarm be noticed in emissions ?

Because it stops the readiness monitors from running. The readiness monitors need to see a certain temp threshold in order to run......when you raise that threshold(IE:Making the code go away) the monitors won't run and the car will never see a ready status, and you will never, ever pass OBDII emissions.

Heh.....not sure why I am even responding to you.....but thats why:ilovesrtc:.

So couldn't you just set the fan settings higher ? if the car is sitting and running, it will still get hot no matter the Thermo

Tried that after work today. Sat and idled until the temp reached 102, it was warm today, ambient read 37. Also kept car in nothing higher than 3rd until temp reached 179. After about 12 min total runing time - bang P0128 again.

So, next step, I reloaded the tune (91 octane w/CAI) and also reset fans to match the settings from the long time post here on the site. Lets see if I get lucky....

The tune reload was good for 2 trips...on the way home tonite, after runing for 16 min. and with the ambient temp in the low 30's, the code came on while traveling on expressway at 65 mph with the engoine temp at 180....:dumb:

This is really starting to not make any sense!!

Are you reading your temps from the EVIC display? or the analog gauge.
