I loaded the video's again. Brings a tear to my eye thinking that i just sold it a month ago! WTFWIT? Here is my first attempt at a NTPA(national truck pull association). I forgot to "lock up the diff and inter axel. So all the power was put down to 2 of the 8 rear drives. Spinning and going nowhere! DOH! *******TURN SPEAKER'S UP GOOD AND LOUD! Nothing better then 6" straight pipes with a signature 600 cummins! No mufflers.no resonators. Straight out the turbo!******** EPA don't like me! 2nd attempt locking the diffs up. Bring RPM up to 1800(idle's at 650rpm), grab 5th gear of the 18,side step the clutch and we rollin' Not only was it a "show" truck but also a "GO" truck! The next project(beside's the car) There are some video's of me doing a "burnout" and drag racing with the 1st truck. I will have to get those and post them. They are pretty cool!
Thanks Ron.....Yeah, i miss the 2003! The chrome shop has the "burnout" and "drag race" video's. They have to email them to me. As soon as they do, i will put em up.
WOW, that thing was a "HOSS"... bet you do miss that! 2nd attempt sure looked like a "full pull" to me! Looking forward to the other videos too!
^^^^^^^HEY!!!!!!!! Good eye! Damn! You got it, full pull. She was pulling really hard at the end. Was having doubts but she pulled it off.
So what would be more embarrassing. Your first pull with nothing locked or taking off in reverse at the drag strip?
Hahahahaha....DAVE! That WAS NOT me racing! That was penny! Good burn though. made me laugh. But actually ron, i DID NOT let off. What happens is when you get close to the end, The guy running the sled drops the blade in the ground HARD! It was digging and slowing me down fast! My foot was to the oil pan!!!!!
Ok, you are off the hook then. lol Funny cause the weight was barely 2/3 up the pull when you crossed. hehe Flat Front has a name, "Cabover"... lol
Otherwise known as a "suicide cab" for obvious reasons. well maybe not what you think but the same result. They're hinged in the front so you can get to the motor. When you hit something the latches in the rear break...
I am not sure how ron, but they adjust the weight somehow. I was in the "heavy pull" class. For some reason the mechanical engines(no electronics..ECM and a manual fuel pump) had a lighter sled then what the electronic contolled did. Why? Most of the electronic class was 550 cats, 600 cats,625 cats and me the only signature 600 cummins. All the caterpillar cowboys were a little upset they got whopped by a cummins and a rookie to boot! As per the cabover(cab over engine), ron is 100% correct. They are a blast from the past. Not many around anymore. I think they are cool as hell. The first truck i drove in 1996 was a cabover my dad bought me. Here was my first truck i drove in 96. Here are a few shots of the dash on the black one. Different now(all chrome gauges and such, new switches ect) but you get the idea like dave was saying. You DONT want to hit a moose! It's a long way down through the front window! I hit a owl with the blue one and i took out the driverside window! Little glass pieces all over me and dash and "doghouse"(the part that goes over top of the motor inside the cab). Was not fun. Here are some pictures.
