Hey guys, I'm new here, and just wanted to show you guys this build I have going on right now. I have a shop called Performance Innovations in Wilmington, NC, and I just wanted to get some input on this sweet little swap -- This is one of my coolest projects yet. The guy has had his 1999 Plymouth Prowler since new. He was absolutely in love with it, except for one thing.....it wasn't very fast. Prowlers came equipped with a 3.5L V6 from the factory, a rear transaxle, and all aluminum and fiberglass construction. Basically they look fast when sitting still but can't walk the talk. There were plenty of people making superchargers, stroker kits, and many other "power" adders. But we kept thinking of the old adage "There is no replacement for displacement" Using that as our guidelines we got a brand new 6.1 SRT Hemi crate motor straight from Chrysler(same motor in new Chargers and Challengers) There are many challenges when installing a bigger motor in a vehicle that wasn't designed for it from the factory. We started by fabricating custom motor mounts to utilize the factory subframe, then a custom bellhousing adapter to mate the hemi to the driveshaft. Alignment was critical here because the driveshaft spins constantly as fast as the motor does; unlike normal vehicles where the driveshaft is after the transmission. The motor got upgraded with a CompCams Stage II camshaft, custom cold air intake, and a ported intake manifold and throttle body. We also fabricated the entire exhaust and headers, all from 3" Stainless steel tubing, everything was TIG welded and then the exhaust was sent out for a ceramic coating inside and out.
I love the prowlers. It's a crime they didn't put real engines in them. Are you going to be able to get enough air through the radiator?
No problem... I can't wait for the body work to be done! The Prowler is 10 feet away from me all naked and cold... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMoR3_USdUg Well let him know about us! We are itching to do a stroker Hemi with a z06 6 speed transaxle It has an aluminum radiator in it now with Evan's waterless coolant. It runs very cool and seems to have enough airflow as it is. Even idling it stays cool
Nice ride. Just what should have been in a Prowler. Hmmm... Evans Waterless Coolant. $29.00 a gal. Seems like nice stuff. Even anti-corrosion. NO water to be added at all. "HDTC is a lifetime coolant if it does not become contaminated with water; future replacement and disposal costs are eliminated! Evans HDTC contains additives that remain stable and in suspension during storage and use." http://www.evanscooling.com/ How it works... http://www.evanscooling.com/maintenance/ ..
