I got a late Christmas present...from the police. Specifically, San Dego PD. I got pulled over this morning on my way into work on I-5. Beautiful cold, clear morning, next to no traffic at 6:15 am, and I was enjoying it all by going pretty darn fast. A car comes flying right up on my butt, then the lights...I pulled over to the right lane quickly then the shoulder after an on-ramp, put all the windows down so they could see into the car, had my license and registration ready, very respectful (lots of "sir"s). Asked me a few questions about where I was going and then my job (when I told him to work), ran my liscense. Handed it back and told me to keep it under 75. Meanwhile his partner was looking my car over, especially at the blacked out side markers and wheels. I was just praying that they didn't say pop the hood. They followed me to the next exit to make sure that I was going to work. Turns out they were City of San Diego PD, so I'm not sure if they can write tickets on the interstate or not. Either way, no ticket for me. :yahoo::headspin::dance4::rockon::clap::thumb2::thumb3: Gotta remember to buy a lottery ticket after work.
Nice!!!! They must of had a good Christmas and some Holiday spirit. Some LEO's can be grouches around this time of the season. I believe some PD's can't give tickets on the interstate. There are some here in FL I believe they can't. They leave it to the highway patrols and sheriff's. Although I've seen some city PD do speed traps on the highways between some city exits.
man..... wish i had that kind of luck........ around my area i am lucky not to get a body cavity search whenever i get pulled over!!!!
You mean my "vacuum leak" right. You better believe that I shut it down QUICK once I stopped. They were both standing behind the car as I left. I left very, very slowly so as not to increase the "whoosh" from under the hood.
you mean to tell me you could have lost your car possibly if the cops were to see a aftermarket blower on a car registered in cali???? man, what has the world come to!!! i remember drew talking about hiding gauges because of getting hassled by cops. what the hell happened in cali since 2001???? (last year i lived there).....lol
you do understand that they can impound the car for altering smog devises don't you. they can legally hold the car until the date that the state inspector can check the vehicle, it is not common for them to do this but definitly within the law.
Ref stands for referee Which means you have to see a person that the state has approved to look at your car for any wrong doings... And Master... yes they can take the car... it is the LAW... but it is RARELY done...
yikes...... man i love living in florida..... no smog checks, no "refs", and no issues with motor mods!!!!
Funny Adam! At the end of the day any one of us could do the job of cop/sheriff/highway patrol/state police...and people are people Sometimes a cop in a hurry just has to take a shit like everyone else. ;-P
Yeah, plus I think it was the end of their shift and they were heading back to the office. Either way, it was very cool of them and MUCH appreciated.
Damn...I never heard of them impounding it straight up unless there was racing involved. Hmmm....learn something new to hate about cali every day.
