thats a very nice start! why not a pod in the left pillar .. that can get 3 outta the way ...

I would fab an aluminum box with angled housings to point the gauges down toward you, allowing them to be mounted closer to the roof.

If you want something custom, let me know the opening size and screw locations and I can fab one up for you in my metal shop ...

Coolflo - the pillar pod can't be used as rollbar is there:

I too have a machine shop so fabrication can be done here. But I appreciate your offer and may take you up on this. First I want to have the car here to physically see what is possible to modify what is already installed. I am not worried that positve changes can be made. I started out in the early 1970's as a design engineer in the automotive industry so hopefully I still have a little creative juice left!

Just difficult when car is 220 miles away and no measurements available yet.
This will add to the FUN and sense of accomplishment as well.:thanks:

I agree, the placement you have now is kinda "not" attractive (sorry), but then again if during use they are found to be easy to read, then maybe that is slightly more important.

My vote would be to modify the dash between the center and right upper vents, and place them at an angle aiming at the driver's area.

Not having any show expertise, I don't know how it would fare in that context but I really liked the gauge setup from the first time I saw it - aesthetically speaking. No idea how practical it would be on the street, but for a race car, I really like the idea and effect of a "gauge bar/bus" with the fully adjustable, minimal mounts and everything.

A fantastic build by Rubbel and BMC, Jim, your car looks amazing!!!
With the purpose of the car, I dont think you could have done much different.
The general topic is gauges, and I´m not sure what do do with my own car, it´s going to get blown, but not on your scale, and I´m concerned about the gauges.
I´ll probably just have to ask Kris and Lisa to give me some options for when I come to pick up my parts.
    Legmaker - love the CAI.

Mate your car has come along very nicely. You have got to be happy with it thats for sure. Not sure about all the guages myself, but it definitely doesn't take anything away from the build and end result in my opinion. Well done to BMC for a nicely put together build and congrates again to you too Rubbel.

As for Matt Smith, be wary of him and his comments, I've heard rumours............. :) NAH only kidding he is a top guy (we get on well) and loves to see his products and customers/friends rides come to life as it has done so here.

    Top stuff mate,

Thanks. Matt has been a real help and watching your build helped as well. Just bought all the 8 rib pullies here except for the snout from Mr. Norms Garage. Also a new HD tensioner. When I get Matt's 8 rib snout pullies I'll be able to run 10 up to 21 psi boost with a selection of various pulleys. My crank pulley is 7-1/2" diameter. I really liked your "cowl" hood. I had considered this option at one point if I needed the room. Your's is very well done!!!

Rubble, we should change your name to "Grand Canyon" The Grand Canyon took 10s of thousands of years to get to where it is now, and certainly a sight to be seen :)

Thats great mate. When do you think they are coming over. How far off is the car from being completed 100% (hehe I can talk).

Is your setup currently running the blower belt seperately/standalone to the rest of the accessories or is it running of the same OEM system. Is this what you mean when you say you are changing all the 6 rib pullies to 8 rib pullies. How much is this kit and do you have any further details on it?

Ideal would be to increase the size of your crank pulley (8" would be ideal) as this will enable you to run a bigger selection of blower pully sizes. The smallest I believe available is 2.85". Seeing that you blower can run up to 18,000rpm (peak 20,000rpm) you could safely run to just under this level with the following configuration:

8" Crank / 2.85" blower pulley @ 6400rpm = Blower @ 17,964 which would max you out. This could be the race setup (as an example) and offering biggest power and max boost. (Depending on intercooling though it could mean higher discharge temps loosing you power - time to start playing LOL :))

Running the 8" crank pulley not only means you have the potential to hit the limits of the blower, you can then run any size blower pulley available above the 2.85" pulley (smallest available size that I know of) which of course you can use to change power levels to suit street driving/or better traction at the track :)

Running the 7.5" crank / 2.85 blower pulley @ 6400rpm = blower @ 16,842rpm. Leaving a bit left on the table :) as you can see.

Of course discharge temps will come in to play and would have to be monitored, however ideal you want to find the sweet spot between ratio/boost level/temps = most power.

The 8 rib set-up from Mr. Norms is top rate mate!!! LOL Cost was $ 2000 U.S. and includes new water pump, tensioner, idler, crank pulley, and accessory pulleys. Beautiful machining job on all. Contact Mike Slaveski at www.MrNormsGarage.com or phone 727-869-9533. Mine were ready in 3 days from order date. I went to their shop (30 minutes away) and it was impressive. They are great people to do business with as well.

All very nice and machined to be as light weight as possible. Quality bearing as well. All pulleys on my engine are converted to 8 rib rather than a stand alone. All pulleys spaced to work same as stock set-up but extend forward a little more than 1/4". This set-up does require a new water pump as the pressed on pulley did not hold up. New pulley bolts on (four bolts). The tensioner is really a big improvement per Mike at Mr. Norms. Must weigh about double the old one. They found breakage when letting off the throttle with more than 650 HP so they changed design. Smallest top pulley from Matt is 61MM from his e-mail recently. I calculated that to be around 21 psi.

For cooling I changed the water pump and heat exchanger.

Contact Matt as far as information about current work on intercooler improvement.

As for the name Grand Canyon I sent all major build contributors a thank you plaque and the top line was:

RUBBELS "INSANE" 426 CHALLENGER - I think INSANE works well LOL

Grand Canyon could be the money pit where I sent all that cash!!!

Due to parts damaged in transit we are shooting for car to be tuned before December 15th so I would think first pass will be late Januart or February at the earliest. I know Builder Bill has an event in Febuary (I think) and I'd like to attend if I can have a few adjustment passes first.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! Is all I can say after speaking with Matt @ Yella Terra today. What people don't know is just how much R&D these guys are putting into goodies for our cars and other brands. And not just blower kits either...........

In regards to Rubbels's build. stay tuned to this page ladies and gentleman. The new improved intercooler system is actually an understatement. I won't give anything away as it is not my place, however this will be the benchmark for all future intercooler design setups.

All I can say is "Rubbel, big power coming through", hehehe! I am now even more excited to see this finished.
