Tamara, I am really happy to hear all the offers being thrown at you guys in such a short period of time. I don't know Marc, but he must be one talented guy at what he does! I'll keep praying for you guys until "the ink is dry".

Marc followed up with the company in San Jose. They're working out his title which will translate into how much they can offer him. The contact said he'd be sending Marc an email to review later today. So looks like he's hired, just not officially until next month.

Within an hour of that call, the one company out of Sacramento that said they weren't hiring last month just emailed Marc asking if he'd be willing to relocate to Reno. So I guess there is some more interest if the current prospects fall through. Not sure how I feel about moving to Reno, but income is income.

you have my answer on your FB page, Tam.

If you guys do end up in Reno, looks like (75%) Maureen and I will be your neighbors..

More importantly, this is GREAT news for you and Marc. I never had a doubt that Marc would be unemployed for very long.

    Congrats.

Yeah, its awesome news, but I won't be totally relieved until its official. In the meantime we're shopping at costco for necessities, eating in (ramen, bologna sandwiches, rice), and Marc's filing for unemployment every week. Still waiting on the severence check, so we'll probably have to dip into savings to pay the bills this month.

Marc got the official offer letter finally. Its a decrease in pay from his last job, but they do have benefits and less pay is better than no pay! Thanks again for all the support folks. It looks like we might be through the worst of it. *knock on wood*

Very happy for all of you.

In this environment, a job is a job. Good companies recognize good talent and move people to the appropriate level as soon as possible.

Change is the only constant these days. Keep us posted on the events.

Alrighty, hopefully my last post on this thread.

Marc signed the paperwork today, and he starts the new job on November 23rd. *collective sigh of relief*

We're staying put for now. The Reno offer was more tentative and the San Jose offer is the real deal. San Jose job means Marc works mostly from home, with some driving to job sites around the Bay Area and maybe some flights to Ontario, Canada if necessary.

They hired Marc on as a Project Manager because the existing project managers have no technical knowledge, just PM skills. Marc's new boss has promised at least verbally that after a while he'll be moved to a Software Specialist position (what Marc actually is).

Marc said he's giving it about a year and if things aren't going so well, he'll be looking at other jobs, which will probably mean a move either up to Reno or down by Las Vegas. Maybe even some place like Kansas. For now, we'll have income and benefits which is the main thing.

Well, Marc just got word today that the company he's worked for since Thanksgiving, that took almost two months for the interview/approval/hire process is being purchased by ANOTHER company and his last official day under the current company is the 12th. No word yet whether he's being kept on by the new company. All he knew going to work this morning was that the owners of his current company (based out of Canada) were flying in to visit the California office. In the past three hours he got notified of the buy-out of the California office, had an exit interview with the owners he'd just met and interviewed with the management of the purchasing company. Ugh. My stomach is in knots all over again. This time around we'll be paying full price for Cobra (probably $1200 a month or more), and at best he gets his two weeks vacation as severance pay. Right now though its hurry up and wait to see if he still has a job after next week and then back to calling up people and seeing if maybe his old company will rehire them since word is that business has picked up.

I love it, we just finally got the damn insurance cards on Saturday and now I have to decide whether to hold off on the biopsy until we get insurance elsewhere or to just do it now and get it over with.

Do not delay on the biopsy. Time is critical...

Purchases of companies is the norm these days...

Encourage Marc to be open to change and be as supportive of the new owners as possible. Change is about the only constant...the faster we all learn to embrace change as good and exciting...the sooner we get comfortable with what is now the way business is...

    Good luck...

I looked up the purchasing company and they look like a much better fit for Marc than the current one, so this may turn out to be a good thing. Just a matter of whether they want/need him or not.

Tam the two of you do all the research on the new owners/company this will give you ammunition if in fact he is able to interview with them it will show he has interest in them and did his homework plus just like you said this is a better fit for him he just needs to explain to them how and why.
