Hokay...so here we go.... I would first like to say.... Chris (HEMI~C~) is a ridiculously good dude...and goes above and beyond anything you would/could ever expect....in just about everything...He knows his stuff...is awesome at what he does...and makes sure that I was happy with everything every step of the way....I help him where I can..but this guy is a machine....he (and his awesome wife) also took the time to keep me fed with lots of good food which i always appreciate LOL Secondly Lisa (BMC Lisa) and Kris and the whole crew there rock. Besides the fact that its where I get all my stuff...on time...whenever i need it....answers my ridiculously random texts...even ridiculously late on a Sunday night making sure that we are not messing up something stupid haha.... and lastly.... All my brothas and sisters here in SRT land....thanks for steering me in the right direction haha I might ask a billion dumbass questions...but someone (even if it is along with 5000 smartass remarks) always answers and watchs out for me making sure i dont screw anything up (like Adam telling me to make sure I have the right belt...which we eventually did get).... So the build.... Now that the forged motor has been installed and was running up to par...it was time for the S/C, Meth, Fuel System, Nitrous Cooling install... We got the Supercharger on, meth system in and working, and Fuel system buttoned up...just ran out of time to do the Nitrous....that will be done another day.... The car fought us the ENTIRE way....hitting us with EVERY stupid ridiculous snag possible. For instance...to get the fuel rails off...theres a 3/8ths connector that you need a tool to pop it off....well we had one...but its sides were "too thick" to get under and pop them off...so we had to take a trip out to get one.... we had to go out about 3 times for belts to try and find the right size...odd thing is...is Vortech supplies a 106" belt...and the right belt turned out to be a 106" gator belt...guess the "gator belts" are just different than normal ones.... seemed like we spent more time in the car out at autoparts stores and stuff getting all the little pieces than we were working on the car.... I have to say though...The car (except for a mystery rattle which i think i found by the way) is running great on its 6th tune revision. Mike Lafrad is ridiculously good with the tuning aspect...and thats only with a couple of drives and a little live data logging...no dyno time or anything.... So these are the pics i have now...I will take some more...my damn camera died...I will also get a video of this hurricane hahahaha I will have to say...the Craziest thing of all is the blow off valve.... Heres the little crappy plastic one that comes with the kit.... and heres mine...... any questions? LOL so more pics.... Chillin at the Hotel the night I got there.... The ridiculous pile of crap..... Tear down of the front end.... Blower belt Assembly.... Blow off valve opening...for the real one.... Blowers in.... So, heres the real kicker of the weekend.... We install the meth system...get the fuel system up and running...and we go to start the car.... fires right up...but notice...its not running all that well....and theres A LOT of steam coming out the back.... so we shut it down...and fire it up a few times... then I notice on my evic...."low washer fluid" I go "did you plug the sensor back in?...i just filled up that tank" turns out...it was in test mode (thanks Lisa for the tip)...turns out we had the meth controller in test mode and didnt know it.... So, in a matter of a minute..it dumped a gallon and a half of fluid into the motor.... we knew it was real bad...when we walk behind the car and found this.... So all in all...the build was crazy....but fun...and a success (thanks to chris's hard work)..... The nitrous still has to go on as well as a few odds and ends..but otherwise a great weekend lol.... once i can get the tuning worked out a little better...ill get her to a dyno and then the track.... interesting to see what kinda #'s she will put down at both
Thats what we said...we dodged a huge bullet haha depends...i have to do some more fine tuning with Mike on the tu ne before its safe to put on a dyno...but hopefully within the next month
Chris told me about the long weekend, lol. Sounds like you got yourself a monster there and you arent even done. Hope you bring that puppy out to ETown and run with us.
Hemi C is a fraud! :smart: J/k of course - nice write up and install pics...time for some major tuning and timeslip gathering....
very nice stevo!!!! i know the feeling of working an entire weekend doing just what you guys did!!! scott (1fst4dr) and i pulled some seriously late nights doing my blower install!! can't wait to see the final numbers!!! btw - my driveway looked like that for a few weeks until my pig rich tune got straightened out by johan!! lol holy shit!!! who let doug in here????? :shifty:
with all you monsters running around...i had to do something to keep up! and hell yeah ill be there! LOL.... you know where im at brotha lol holy crap hahahaha we werent sprayin gas lol.... yeah it should be interesting :shifty: yeah at the point we were at we were on google...on the fourms....im like "crap i need to see if lisa knows" hahaha
http://www.tialsport.com/prod_bv_q.htm just find a vendor who can get it...we got it at a local race shop.... you need to cut out the crappy little blow off valve stem thing...and weld that in lol and basically the thing you have to look out for is.....on my vortech...it touches the hood....so i have to find a way to turn it and relocate it.... and just to keep you guys happy....its a dark and crappy video...but heres a teaser before i get you good video of this thing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbJ3GYpeLLk I tried to hold a paper towel there to show you the ridiculous wind thats coming out of it...but it didnt come out too good hahahaha
What is everyone doing for part throttle boost for daily driving??? Do you have to CONSTANTLY be wary of it and watch your gauges? Anyone else running what Tim @ NCTS Turbo is running for part throttle boost. He says it works flawless with the factory system, and 100% tunable for part throttle boost. http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=144758
Tim's stuff definitely looks like a nice solution but I can tell you that after 18K miles of part throttle boost driving I don't see any KR. While EGTs could be going up considerably as compared to stock, a forged shortblock with supercharger appropriate piston ring gaps doesn't seem to be affect a whole lot. Throw in some water/meth and I think most if not all concerns would be alleviated. Btw, I have the my NOVI and now the YSI cranked up high with the OD damper/small OD drive pulley that I see 7psi at part throttle on a regular basis. Chris
kyle - like chris (hemi~c) said, guys with forged motors set up properly with boost in mind are not so concerned with part throttle boost situations... guys like me on the other hand with stock motors are a different story. i drive the car in a manner that keeps it out of boost majority of the time while "city" driving. i monitor my gauges and if i see a situation that shows boost but 14.x a/f, i either hit the go pedal a bit harder or back out..... my dashdaq XL should be here very soon for me to watch egt's as well. when i datalog with the pred, i see egt's anywhere from 900 - 1000 while crusing, 1200-1300 wot. part throttle boost the egt's still do not get past 1250 degrees for the most part because my meth is blowing in at around 2lbs. if i was not running meth, i can only imagine where the egt's might be in boosted part throttle driving....oh:
