Fuel System Upgrades

    So,

    Many have asked....now you shall receive...

    To make sure I never had an issue with running out of fuel, I had a few "enhancements" done to keep the motor getting all the gas it could ever want....

    In the fuel tank itself: Stock pump feeding inline into the Bosch 044 which then has -6an line feeding the factory fuel filter basket (modified by removing check valve and drilling opening to just over a 1/4). This is just as much fun as it looks. You have to make sure you dont get any drillings in the lines so what we ended up doing is removing the OEM line, and replacing it with a thicker more durable hose and used some clamps. Be careful here as the fuel basket (being plastic) is fairly brittal and there is the potential for snapping it which of course means going out and buying another one....

    Outside tank: -6an line from tank outlet to underneath car, -8an line along chassis to fuel rails.

    40AMP Kenne Bell Boost A Pump powering both pumps with 10 gauge wiring going straight to the tank.

    Larger fuel Rails and the SRT Stage 1 Injectors were used on my motor but you could of course go with any injector that suits your needs.

    This is the "Basic" fuel system upgrade. You can keep going (on functionality, cost, and complexity) and get a fully returned fuel system, but based on the information given, I did not feel it was necessary for my particular build.


    Access the fuel tank / buckets through the back seats....

    the modified bucket is located on the passenger side.

    so is the Bosch in the tank or outside? What is on the other end of the blue fitting (not the line to the front, the other end)?

    the other end of the blue line connects to the other basket on the drivers side i think...

    OOOHHH yeah....like i said..if we didnt have to run around buying all these stupid little things...it woulda cut the time in half lol

    nope...like we said this is a BASIC system upgrade...if you wanna go big time you need a full return and a regulator

    The system utilizes as much of the factory system as possible and is built around 351Freak's (David Camp) research with Bosch 044's and stroked/supercharged builds which he was pushing at the 630+rwph level.

    Design is based on a lift pump theory which boosts factory pump output by using a higher capacity pump in front of it.

    1. Stock pump feeds into Bosch 044 (-6an line) postively located on the outside of the factory fuel basket on the driver's side of the tank.

    2. Bosch 044 feeds into factory basket on passenger side basket via -6an synthetic fuel line.

    3. Passenger side fuel basket is modified by drilling out factory check valve and 3/16 hole to a full 1/4.

    4. outside the tank we used -6an down to -8an run down the side of the car to -8an fuel connectors on the fuel rail.

    5. Factory fuel pump wiring used to trigger 40amp relay, 10ga wires from battery to BAP and BAP to fuel pumps in tank (via two brass posts mounted in plastic hat).

    Thats is it... simple basic....effective.

    If more volume is needed, then system is upgradable by modifying pass fuel hat by replacing factory fuel outlet with -8an bulkhead fitting, remove factory fuel filter and install inline filter further up the -8an line, FPR at end of fuel rails and return line back to driver side fuel hat.

    Interesting....I wonder if this is adaptable to the SRT10...and I already have a 50 amp Kenne Bell..Hmmmmm..:shifty:

    I would imagine you would need more than this for the big old S/C V10.....

    Maybe something similiar...some trucks with the Paxton superchargers (I have a Roe twin screw) have 2 extra inline pumps plus retain the stock in tank pump. These are triggered by boost but are a little hard to tune because of the sudden pressure increase....they also present a danger of leaning out if one or both give out during WOT...the bad pump(s) restrict fuel flow which can be disasterous..

    the less things that can fail the better....keep it as simple as possible lol
